Our June Student-of-the-Month at Harmony Studios is Riley Wetterling who takes piano lessons from Aaron Juliot.

His musical goals are to learn more contemporary music on the piano and to also learn to play the drums.

His biggest musical accomplishment is using his piano skills to help learn percussion at school.

His biggest challenge has been to find time to practice when involved in many activities.

The life lessons he has learned are that hard work is important and that he can't give up when things are hard.

Piano has made him more confident from finding the courage to perform.

At the studio, we've been putting more focus on helping adult students feel less overwhelmed when they sit down at the piano.

Especially when it comes to reading music.

It doesn't have to feel like a constant stop-and-start process.

If you've been considering lessons (or coming back to them), now's a good time--we do have a few openings available.

Summer is the best time to work on this -- things are a little more flexible , and there's less pressure to move quickly.

A quick thought for adult piano learners:

If reading music feels harder than it should...
..it's often not about needing more practice.

It's usually about how you're processing what you see on the page.

That's something we've been working on a lot with students recently, and it's made a big difference.

Harmony Studios would like to congratulate Atley Duckwitz on her graduation and thank her for being a part of Harmony Studios.

Atley is the daughter of Ashley and Justin Duckwitz, and she has taken lessons at Harmony Studios from Darla Marty, Janet Bolstad, and Zhanna Ricks.

She has studied piano, voice, and guitar.

Some of her special memories include having created bonds with her teachers and having spent time doing group lessons with other students.

Her plans after graduation are to attend the Salon Professional Academy for cosmetology and to finish her two-year degree at MState.

She plans to continue playing her guitar and singing in church.
