We're just as sad as all of you that the Goose Festival is paused this year - but are so grateful to partners who are helping to make some of the traditional events happen.

The School will be hosting the carnival from the Goose Festival during the 2nd weekend of October - it is the same carnival as usually comes to the Goose Festival, and tickets can be purchased at elliottsamusements.com/events/24

While the other events aren't happening, Root Cafe - Fennville will be hosting a party on the 11th with music and food.

As we plan for the future, we know it will take a brand-new team of volunteers to bring fresh energy to Fennville's community events. These traditions can only continue with your help - stay tuned for how you can be a part of it!

This past year, 2024, the Fennville Goose Festival celebrated its 40th anniversary in grand style, featuring the widest variety of events ever seen. Having passed this milestone, the Goose Festival team has decided that 2025 will see a pause of the Goose Festival, as we know it, to give some time for restructuring and reevaluation, to see Goose Festival at its best for 2026 and beyond.

The unprecedented success of the Festival over the past few years has been a great achievement for Fennville, and we love having been involved in making it all happen. This success has, however, also exposed some of the unsustainable trends facing our team. While the scale and scope of the festival has grown both in size and complexity, the team tackling these challenges has remained more or less unchanged. Civic construction projects planned this year in Fennville would further complicate preparations in 2025.

A yearlong break will allow the Goose Festival committee to focus on recruiting the next generation of Goose leaders, as well as crafting a strategy to make the continuation of the Festival going forward more sustainable for everyone involved. New perspectives and creativity will be key to the success of this process, and we encourage anyone interested in being involved to reach out via Facebook.

In terms of events for this year, the 4th Friday in Fennville event for September of this year is planned as a scaled down Goose Festival Celebration, with everything people love about 4th Fridays mixed with a few Goose Festival favorites we don’t want people to miss out in 2025. There are also ongoing talks exploring options to host the carnival this year in an alternate location that will not overlap with the planned construction.
