I’ve been dealing with a bit of artist’s block lately, so instead of forcing myself to finish drawings I’m not feeling, I decided to revisit something I haven’t done in a while: writing.

I’ve had an idea for a story set in the Mortal Kombat universe bouncing around in my head for a few months, and I finally started writing it down. I’m only a few pages in, but I think it’s going pretty well so far.

Don’t worry—this isn’t turning into a writing account. This is just a fun creative side project. If I actually finish it, maybe I’ll throw it up on my website for free.

Our one-year-old has developed a full-blown obsession with Ms Rachel.

The second her face appears on the TV, his entire face lights up. Then comes the giant four-tooth grin, the clapping, the laughing… it’s honestly one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen.

The funny part? When his “stories” are on, Mom and Dad basically cease to exist. We could be standing right in front of him, and he’d act like we’re background characters.

I joked to my wife that one day he’d get a traditional heart tattoo. Not one that says “MOM”—one that says “MS. RACHEL.”

So naturally, I had to draw what that might look like.

All jokes aside, we’re incredibly grateful for Ms. Rachel. She makes learning fun, encourages kindness, and has helped countless parents survive those long days with little ones.

She’s doing the Lord’s work.

Another glorious in the books. I’m not one to take a lot of pictures, but I’m so happy to have had another weekend at horror fan summer camp (copyright ), doing what I love and seeing my kooky horror fam for our annual family reunion. I love all of you weirdos.

To put TWO exclamation points on the experience, I finally got to sign my Terrifier 2 Art the Clown vs Sienna piece. I’m super proud of it and the validation high I got from him to being impressed and appreciative of it is like crack to me. AND I’m not sure how he saw it, but like Leslie Vernon, himself suddenly appeared in front of my table, slapped an 8x10 down and signed it right there for me in appreciation of my Leslie Vernon piece.

Thanks to everyone who came by my table to shop, peruse, or chat. It’s truly an honor that my work was worth the time to stop and look. I never believed I could be even a semi-professional artist, so you all really make the dream come true.
