Mount Sequoyah has been part of Fayetteville’s story for more than 100 years. Established in 1922 as a Methodist retreat and conference center, it was made possible through a community effort, with the city of Fayetteville pledging land, funding, utilities, and infrastructure to bring the vision to life.

Over the decades, Mount Sequoyah has remained a place for gathering, learning, and connection. Today, this historic landmark continues to preserve its unique natural setting and architecture while welcoming the community through events, arts, retreats, and opportunities to experience the mountain’s legacy.

Mount Sequoyah has been part of Fayetteville's story for more than 100 years, and its history is full of fascinating stories.

🌳 The city helped bring the vision to life. When Mount Sequoyah was established, the City of Fayetteville pledged 400 acres of land, $35,000 in seed funding, utility connections and even a road to the mountaintop to help make it a reality.

⛰️ It wasn't always called Mount Sequoyah. Before the land was donated, the area was known as East Mountain. The name "Mount Sequoyah" was chosen through a community-wide naming contest.

🏡 Fayetteville began at the foot of the mountain. Around 1828, the area's first permanent settlers established homes near Big Spring, at the base of what is now Mount Sequoyah.

Kundalini yoga focuses primarily on practices that expand sensory awareness and intuition such as chanting and repetition of a pose for several minutes in order to raise individual consciousness. A physical, mental and spiritual practice for developing strength, awareness, character, and consciousness. Sound Baths help release unhealthy energy patterns or blockages in and around the body through the vibrations as the Crystal Alchemy Singing Bowls are played.

There's beauty in the details. 🧱🌿

One of the things that makes Mount Sequoyah so special is the way its architecture feels like an extension of the landscape. From native stone and handcrafted details to arched walkways and inviting courtyards, every building was designed to encourage connection - with each other and with nature.

Next time you're on the mountain, slow down and take a closer look. You might notice something you've never seen before.
