I was so worried about this foot. I didn't have a direct reference because the photo I used had a bit of a different positioning, which means I had to make things up along the way. 😅

I am SO happy with this final look.

Now I just have to repeat this look...on the other foot.

What do you think?

Trying to embroider fabric and make it look somewhat presentable...scares me. Every time. You can't hide it like you can with fur.

The blanket is turning out...different than I anticipated, but honestly? I don't mind it.

(Sidenote...the amount of SOUL in that eye...I am amazed)

I probably won't offer digital pet portraits, mostly because it just doesnt hit that artist tactile itch for me.

That said, it was pretty fun to recreate my boy. I plan on getting this printed to hang up. And while not perfect by any means, it looks so dang pretty.

I originally went into it wanting to make something for a T-Shirt. Just for funsies. I didnt expect it to turn out so beautifully.

I used a gouche brush in ClipArt.

I decided to try my hand at something a little different (and to quote one of my best friends...yes, I know the exact thing I need right now is *another* hobby, said with the largest amount of sarcasm possible).

This is called Kinusaiga. I think. And in theory, it's quite a fun idea. In practice...my hands and wrists are tired 😅

I think ultimately I'm happy with the turnout. I had bought some cheap fabric because I didnt know if I'd like the art, and so I didnt have brown, which makes the eyes look...odd.

If I try it again (not sure it's truly my jam), I think I'll have to go bigger. And work on not making so many different parts of my template. I don't do simple...so that in itself will be a challenge.

What do you think? Should I try again?

With as much as I used to struggle with painting cats...who would have thought another art medium would make them one of my absolute favorites to recreate?

I continue to stare at what my hands have created with the sort of awe that just...makes me do a double take, every time.

I currently have another kitty on my work table...and am loving every single thread.

I have to say, and I know I say it every time I finish a portrait, but Fox has to be one of my absolute favorites.

I think the best part is his right eye, where obviously it is missing, but the way the hair flows makes it to where you can still visualize where the eye was. And I just love that. It's the little things that bring that spark of life back.

After all, I will forever hope to recreate the beauty these wonderful souls had in life...and am so grateful to have that talent.

What do you think of Fox's finished portrait? From his cute pizza collar, his beautiful oranges, to his missing eye...this was an adventure, and a complete labor of love.

It's coming together so nicely!

Fox may only have one eye, but man was it fun to try and embroider in a way that still let the eye be seen, but also did justice to the simple beauty he presents. I can't way to show you how these colors blended together.

Anyone else excited to see the finished portrait?
