Gilbert Theater is a small professional, community minded theater that has been delighting theater patrons in Fayetteville, North Carolina since 1994. Our mission is to give local artists, actors and musicians a place to showcase their talents. We have produced more than 80 contemporary and classical theatrical productions, ranging from the popular shows like Cabaret and A Midsummer Night's Dream

to edgier shows like, The Laramie Project. Our theater is located in the heart of Historic Downtown Fayetteville close to the Market House. Wheelchair and Accessible Seating
In order to ensure that people with disabilities have the same opportunities to participate in and benefit from live performances, the Gilbert Theater provides the following:
•Access to a ramp and elevator.
•Wheelchair accessible seats and companion seats are available for purchase exclusively by people with disabilities and their companions for every performance.
•Wheelchair and companion seating is dispersed throughout the theater to ensure people with disabilities excellent lines of sight.

Teague Vernell (Mitch Mahoney) is thrilled to return to the Gilbert Theater stage! Gilbert audiences may recognize him as Clifford Bradshaw in Cabaret, Charlie Martin in On Golden Pond, multiple characters in A Christmas Story, and from RENT, where he appeared as Gordon/The Man/Mr. Gray and understudied Roger. Most recently, Teague appeared as Theo in Gilbert PlayFest’s Olive Juice. His other stage credits include Mr. Boddy in Clue: The Musical at Encore Theater. On screen, Teague has appeared in Seasons 1 and 2 of R.J. Decker, with Season 2 premiering this September, along with appearances in The Waterfront, The Runarounds, and The Righteous Gemstones. A U.S. Army veteran, Teague is grateful to be back at Gilbert and excited to bring a little comfort—and a few juice boxes—to the Bee as Mitch Mahoney.

Shelby Vermilyea (Female U.S.) Shelby is thrilled to be making her Gilbert Theater debut! She earned her B.A. in Theatre from Georgia College & State University and was most recently seen as Marianne Dashwood in Sweet Tea Shakespeare’s production of Sense and Sensibility. Shelby would like to thank her husband, Jack, and her dog, Honey Bee, for their endless love and support. She hopes you enjoy the show!

Laurel Flomdell (Rona) Laurel is delighted to join the Bee after losing her 5th grade spelling bee on the word “diagnosis," a word she now uses everyday as a therapist. Favorite local credits include CFRT's 9 to 5 (Margaret), Pride & Prejudice (Mary Bennet), Sweeney Todd, and Legally Blonde, and Gilbert Theater’s Young Frankenstein (Inga) and It’s a Wonderful Life (Mary). She is grateful to her wife, family, and friends for their never-ending support. She dedicates this performance to her parents who always made sure to say, "I love you."

John O'Neil (Assistant Principal Panch) is ecstatic (E-C-S-T-A-T-I-C) to make his Gilbert Theater debut! Favorite roles include Avram, Fiddler on the Roof (SART), Buffalo Bill Cody, Annie Get Your Gun (FTCC), and The Cowardly Lion, Wizard of Oz (ACT). Izaiah Zapata (Barfee) Izaiah Zapata is excited to be a part of Gilbert Theater’s opening show for their 33rd Season. He is the Director of Green Tea Shakespeare Youth Acting Company and has directed child productions such as Jungelbook and Alice in Wonderland, and adult productions at Sweet Tea Shakespeare such as Pan (Peter Pan) and The Crucible. You may have seen in shows such as Sweet Tea Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet (Sampson), Murder on the Orient Express (Hector Macqueen), King John (King Louis), Sense and Sensibility (John Dashwood), FTCC’s Putnam County Spelling Bee (Chip, Jesus, Olive’s Dad & Dan Dad) and Museum of the Cape Fear’s Halloween Revels (Edgar “Allen” Poe Jr.) Instagram

Jake Twaddell (Leaf) Jake is a classical musician, music educator, and a Fayetteville native. He is so excited to be returning to the Gilbert after previously music directing and appearing in Cabaret and Rent this past season.
Jake would like to thank all of his mentors for preparing him for this and the Gilbert Theater for the opportunity.

Matt Lamb (Chip) is thrilled to return to the Gilbert stage! He was last seen at the Gilbert in A Christmas Story as The Old Man and directed the Gilbert’s production of RENT. Matt has toured extensively throughout the United States and Canada, including the world-premiere Paw Patrol LIVE! Heroes Unite!, where he originated the role of Mayor Humdinger. His Off-Broadway credits include Frankenstein, The Musical as The Creature and The Phantom of the Opera as The Phantom for RWS Entertainment and Madame Tussauds. Regional credits include Imagination Stage, Pittsburgh CLO, Cape Fear Regional Theatre, and Temple Theatre. He is honored to serve as the current Artistic Director of the Gilbert Theater.

Keylianies Arandia-Colon (Olive) is a third-year student at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, pursuing a degree in Musical Theatre. Her previous credits include Annie in Annie, Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Charlotte in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella at Richlands High School. At UNCP, she has performed as Alice in Alice by Heart and Little Sally in Urinetown. Keylianies would like to thank her professors, friends, and family for their continued love, encouragement, and support.

Mianne Goforth (Logan) She is E-x-c-i-t-e-d! Mianne has been involved in theater since she was in the 4th grade, with her debut role as 'Chess Piece Number 4' in Dorothy in Wonderland. Some of her most notable roles she has played are Paulette in Legally Blonde and Morticia Addams in The Addams Family. Her favorite part of working on Spelling bee has been “creating a character that is unique to her adaptation while also researching other productions!” She says, “The music is so wonderful, and I’ve had an awesome time learning it!”

Annabeth Clark (Marcy Park) (she/her) is incredibly honored to be back at the bee! Recent credits include Queen Anne in The Three Musketeers, Juliet in Romeo & Juliet, Sandy Cheeks in The Spongebob Musical, and "Squeaky" Fromme in Assassins. Annabeth would like to extend a special thanks to the cast and crew for this opportunity and wonderful experience, her family and friends for their unwavering love and encouragement, and to you for supporting local theatre!
