Thanks to all the teams who played USSSA this past weekend. We had a great events in Cordele Ga 66 teams. Rincon GA 29 teams Waycross Ga 24 teams Gold Cup Series #6 9 teams at McDonough A and King of the mountain event 7 teams in Covington Ga. Thanks to 135 teams who played USSSA in Georgia and to Joe Wilson and Atlanta Fastpitch Company. Great Job.

The USSSA Power Ranking is used to determine the overall strength of a team within the classification category they are in. The system was designed to fairly rank teams (of the same class) that have not played near the same number of games. This rating is one of the factors used when classifying teams as it shows the level of play against teams within the current class.
THE SYSTEM USES
- The teams winning percentage
- Their opponents beaten winning percentage
- Their opponents lost to winning percentage
- Number of games played
- Number of wins and loses
THE SYSTEM DOES NOT USE
- Game played between teams of different class
- Score of game
- Head to Head results
- Wins or loses by forfeit
WHAT CAUSES A POWER RATING TO CHANGE?
The power ratings change regularly due to any and all of the following:
- Results have been entered for a tournament that your team participated in.
- Results have been entered for tournaments that any team your team has faced (in your class) participated in.
- The classification of your team or any team that you have faced changes.
HOW IS POWER RATING AFFECTED WHEN PLAYING TEAMS IN OTHER CLASSIFICATIONS?
The power rating is factor based on performance against teams within the same classification. Games against teams in other classifications do not affect the rating. Therefore:
- It does not hurt a team to play up in a higher classification or higher age division (i.e. C Class playing Open or 14U playing 16U). We encourage teams to play up on occasions – it can be an integral part of growing and improving their level of play.
- It does not help a team to play down. For instance, a B team playing in an open tournament with several C teams will not help their rating. More importantly, beating teams that you outrank in skill level by double digits is not rewarded.

At USSSA, we strive to make our games the safest, fairest, and most equitable they can possibly be. As we continue to push ourselves to the forefront of security, provide a better experience to teams and protect players and families, we are adjusting our background check process.

Background checks are a mandatory part of USSSA registration and membership. Team managers and coaches will agree to an indemnification during their background check application, providing them immediate access to the program and management capabilities while their background check finishes.

Once the manager or coach completes their background check application and submits all required information, they receive tentative clearance to manage their team. Managers and coaches can then register teams and players, manage rosters and complete event entry, payment, and participation.

After the background check is completed and coaches and managers are cleared, they will receive a green badge that notes the clear season and sport. If a background check comes back as pre-Adverse, a process is immediately implemented to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
