Our cat, Turbo, was the model for this painting. He does not deep sea dive (to our knowledge). Although we have no doubt he would if he could.

“The Explorer” Alcohol inks & acrylic on canvas. 30 inches by 39 inches.

I recently saw photos of a bird I was unfamiliar with: The Roseate Spoonbill. My first thought was, “They’re like lovely cartoon characters.” My second thought was, “What if they wore work boots?” 🤔

And so here we are. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My painting, “Disconnect”, was delivered to the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum today.

I look forward to seeing it as part of this year’s annual regional Artist exhibit called “Our Common Ground”. The exhibit, which features the art of several of my NWA Artist friends whose work I greatly respect, runs June 26th thru October 25th.

Work in Progress: Hanging swan in flight sculpture.

So far one of the biggest challenges has been keeping our art studio cats from trying leap on it. They seem to be under the misimpression that I’ve creating it for them as a Kitty Piñata. I keep telling them it’s for a customer, but they don’t seem to believe me. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Sometimes when I’m mentally fatigued or mentally stressed, I clear my head and recharge my batteries by mindlessly practicing a new creating technique. ‘Cuz learning something new, just for the heck of it, is an interesting thing to do. And since you’re just practicing, there are no consequences to messing up. So you are free to be spontaneous.

Once in awhile such creative meandering results in an actual art piece that I end up mindfully finishing. That happened with this painting.

I titled it “Brewbeck” since I was listening to Dave Brubeck music during the first couple of hours messing around with it.

I’m among several local Artists donating paintings for Non Profit Fenix Arts’ 8x8 Fundraiser this Saturday. If you go to George’s Majestic Lounge this Saturday 5-7pm, you’re in for some good music and good art for a good cause.

If you should spot some original art you’d like to have in your home or workspace, it’s 8x8 art for $88.

Today I’m part of a group of Fenix Arts Artists are spending 3 hours this afternoon painting wooden panels for a Fenix Arts fundraiser. I don’t usually paint that fast though. What to do? 🤔

I decided large flower blooms might be the answer. Not wanting to mess up the wooden panels today, I practiced painting flower blooms FAST last night.

It about broke my brain to go that fast. It likes to go slow when I paint and draw. But I enjoyed learning something new.

I personally like the more monotone (mostly one color) ones the best.

I’ve decided to stop knowingly using AI videos to market my art. As in, using AI to animate my 3D art for funny results. Due to the heavy electricity use and the water evaporating involved in AI Data Centers.

I’ve learned that making a five-second Al-generated video uses about as much electricity as running a microwave nonstop for over an hour.

I’ve also learned that the water used by AI Data Centers to cool the equipment gets evaporated. Just taken out of local water sources (rivers, underground water, etc.) and evaporated. Gone. No longer available to help living things.

Use ChatGPT or Claude? I have, with art and other questions. But now I know that an AI chat session of 20 or so queries uses up to a bottle of water. 💦

Folks living near these Data Centers pay more for their electricity and water as a result of other people’s AI use. And may face water shortages too.

So… it’s back to manual video editing for my art business.

I don’t use AI in the creation of my art anyway, so no problem there.

We live and we learn. It’s ok to realize we’ve been making a mistake and changing to try to do better. Even if what one person does is only a small thing. Small things add up.
