Workshop alert!! Looking for more ways to connect and create during Pride Month? Workshop Description:
In āUses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Powerā, Audre Lorde pulls from her experience as a Black le***an woman feminist as she speaks to the power of fully-present embodimentāa power that when channeled and combined with others, can be a catalyst for revolutionary change.Ā
Poet Toni Garcia-Butler invites you to look at Lordeās work through a gender-expansive lens. In choosing āthe yes within ourselvesā, pursuing truth and knowledge, and rejecting āthe fear of feelingā, Transqueer people step into an autonomous way of beingārejecting their suffering and disrupting oppressive cultural norms.Ā
In this generative workshop, participants will read and discuss [excerpts of*] Audre Lordeās āUses of the Eroticā, draw connections to poems from Garcia-Butlerās chapbook, DIY Body, and create their own poems of personal embodiment. Weāll expand upon eroticism as a sensory experience and capture the fullness of feeling in our writing. Open to all levels of experience.
