I’ve been thinking a lot about comfort zones, probably because I like to cling to mine with both hands. (White knuckles, sweaty palms, the whole deal.)
In the movies I love when characters pursue something difficult outside of their comfort zone. Their grit looks something like Elle Woods studying hard for the LSAT, fluffy pen and a fun music montage speeding up her progress. My difficult does not look or feel like that, and because it’s not easy sometimes it feels wrong. Too hard. Too far outside what I’m capable of.
But then, once in a while I look up and see something that would be included in my own movie music montage. Not a fluffy pen, but something I love staring back at me, making stepping outside my comfort zone a little less scary. Encouragement to keep going, white knuckles and all.
