Cobblestone Arts Center Cobblestone Arts Center is a community art center offering programs for all ages and abilities. All ages and abilities have always been welcome.

The Cobblestone Arts Center was founded in 1983 to bring the visual and performing arts to the rural community. Cobblestone wheelchair dance company, Wheels In Motion, began in 1986 and gave inspiration to form an all day arts program for adults with disabilities. Through music, dance, visual arts, and theatre these cobblestone students gain a great sense of value and accomplishment connecting with each other and the community. We are proud to bring all the arts to the community, a unique after school program, and a new theatre space for the whole area to enjoy live performances.

Creativity can get a little messy and that's part of the process!

Students took on the challenge of turning their own ideas into three-dimensional creations using Styrofoam. From a swimming pool and a rocket ship to a house, a toaster, a pickup truck, and even a semi-truck, each sculpture reflected the imagination and individuality of its creator.

This lesson was about more than bringing ideas to life, students had the opportunity to explore two tools used in shaping materials: the keyhole saw and the miter saw. They learned about the purpose of each tool and how different cutting techniques help transform a material into a desired shape.

By connecting creative expression with hands-on tool exploration, students practiced problem-solving, spatial thinking, and the process of turning an idea into something tangible.

Pumpkins, crisp fall air, and a day well spent!

We enjoyed a gorgeous autumn day at Duvall Farms, soaking up the sunshine and picking our very own pumpkins! Nothing says fall quite like getting outside and finding the perfect pumpkin to take home.

Great sculptures begin with more than an idea — they begin with understanding how things fit together!

Students explored the fundamentals of wood construction by creating a platform from popsicle sticks and building a scaffold to support it. Along the way, they experimented with two types of glue, learning how fast-drying and slow-drying adhesives serve different purposes in the building process.

Why does drying time matter? Fast-drying glue can help secure pieces quickly, while slow-drying glue allows more time to adjust placement and make careful connections. Understanding these differences helps artists make thoughtful choices as they build.

From selecting materials to considering structure and stability, this lesson connected art with problem-solving, engineering, and creative thinking.

The most important part of creating something is learning how to make it stand.
