Member Spotlight: Kileann 💪🏼✨
Meet Kileann! Her fitness journey has taken many different paths, but her story is a pretty incredible reminder that it’s never too late to get back to doing something for yourself.
Growing up, Kileann didn’t play organized sports because she was busy working after school—waiting tables, babysitting, and even working at the local butcher shop! But she was always active, squeezing in runs and workout videos between work and school. In her early twenties, she found weight training and eventually tried just about everything fitness-related: yoga, Pilates, boxing, biking, running a marathon…you name it!
Then she became a mom for the first time at 38, and fitness took a backseat for the next five years. Being a mom was (and still is!) something she loves more than anything, but eventually she started feeling the effects of not moving her body—not just physically, but mentally and with her energy, too.
So, right before turning 44, she walked into CrossFit Calypso for the first time. She had never done CrossFit before and admits it was super intimidating at first. Thankfully, the Calypso community made it easy to feel welcome, and she quickly found her place.
And her favorite movements? Anything that gets her upside down, off the ground, or holding her own body weight—rope climbs, handstand push-ups, wall walks, toes-to-bar and L-sits! She always wanted to do gymnastics as a kid, so those movements make her feel like a kid again.
She also loves the sn**ch because it forces her to get out of her head and focus. And after finally getting one, she cried.
Why does she keep showing up?
“There is something about doing hard things with an awesome group of people that’s extremely addicting!”
And at 46, Kileann says she’s in better shape than she was in her twenties.
Oh, and one more fun fact: she joined and quit CrossFit Calypso three times before it finally stuck.
Third time’s the charm🫶🏻
