We are deeply honored to announce Don Paul as the inaugural recipient of the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival Lifetime Achievement Award. Don’s career as a wildlife and avian biologist has left a lasting legacy on our state’s natural resources.

As an original festival pioneer and tireless advocate for Utah’s wildlife, Don's impact is so profound that from this day forward, this honor will officially be known as the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival Don Paul Lifetime Achievement Award.

Each year the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival Birder of the Year award honors an individual who demonstrates outstanding contributions beyond personal achievement, focusing on community impact, birding advocacy, ethical behavior, knowledge sharing, and citizen science initiatives.

What an unforgettable weekend at the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival! It was a privilege to host so many passionate birders, families, and conservationists.
