🐾 From Clay to Cherish: Creating Christine’s Memorial Urn 🤍
Every piece of pottery has a story, but some are made with an extra measure of love.
I’m sharing the first three stages of creating a custom sculpted urn for my Granddog, Christine. ❤️
🏺 Step 1: Building the Form
Starting with the clay, I build the urn and begin hand-sculpting Christine’s beautiful face.
🎨 Step 2: Refining the Details
Layer by layer, I work to capture her expression, the texture of her fur, and the little details that make this piece uniquely hers.
🖌️ Step 3: The Underpainting
Christine’s portrait now has its colors and character. The underpainting is complete, and the urn is ready for the next steps: glazing and firing.
This is more than a pottery project. It’s a labor of love and a way to honor a very special member of our family. Each detail is shaped by hand, with love woven into every step.
More to come as Christine’s urn continues its journey from clay to a lasting tribute. 💜

I'm easily entertained and amused as most of you know, so you won't be surprised that I have a little friend on my desk who I frequently talk to as I'm filling out my planner each morning 😂
Toad-u-so keeps me from getting too serious to have fun with my work.
How do you keep yourself light-hearted?

It has been an incredible two weeks with shows and I'm so very grateful for all my customers and friends (old and new!) who came to see me!
LaurelHighlandspots.etsy.com is a wee bit empty right now, so I'll be busy creating new things to list . If you have a holiday request please message me and I'll try to include it in my production schedule ❤️
Handmade is always the perfect gift 🎁

Each is one of a kind, low relief and such a joy to create!
Should I offer them on LaurelHighlandspots.etsy.com ? Let me know what you think.

Christine was a good girl... I'll miss her. I'll pay finished pics when it's glazed.
