What a great day at the 2026 State of Alabama Procurement Conference & Statewide Contract Supplier Expo. It was wonderful to connect with so many state agencies, municipalities, schools, universities, and fellow procurement professionals.

There were plenty of conversations around the challenges public-sector organizations face when it comes to language access, interpreting, translation, and accessibility—and plenty of opportunities to learn from one another.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to speak with Veronica Riazzo and to the Alabama Department of Finance, Division of Procurement, for bringing everyone together.

If we didn’t get a chance to talk, please reach out to me. I’d love to keep the conversation going!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is more than a symbol or a color. It’s a reminder to learn, share information, encourage early detection, and support people facing breast cancer today—and those who may face it in the future.

Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a story.

This October, let’s keep the conversation going. Awareness can lead to action. Action can save lives. 💗

Today, we recognize the translators and interpreters who help organizations communicate across languages every day. From healthcare and education to government, legal services, and business, language access allows people to access information, navigate services, and participate fully in their own language.

To all the language professionals who make that possible: thank you for the expertise behind every word.

Happy International Translation Day! 🌎

We’re collecting stories. And yours could be part of our International Translation Day celebration.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been asking translators and interpreters in our community to share one professional story they’ve never forgotten.

Maybe it was funny 🤣. Maybe it was challenging 🚀. Maybe it changed the way you see your profession 🧐. Maybe it reminded you why you chose this work in the first place ☺️.

There’s still time to share yours. Drop it in the comments or send it to us by DM. No polished essay required—just tell us what happened and why it stayed with you.

This International Translation Day, we want to tell your stories.

For an ASL interpreter, “close enough” isn't enough. ASL is not English translated onto the hands. It is a complete language with its own grammar, structure and meaning.

And in high-stakes settings, professional interpretation can be critical.
✅ A medication misunderstood.
✅ A medical diagnosis not fully understood.
✅ A question left unanswered.
These aren't simply communication gaps. They can have real consequences.

Meaningful access means ensuring Deaf and Hard of Hearing people can understand, participate, ask questions, and be understood.

Today, on International Sign Language Day, we're recognizing the professionals who help make that access possible—and the people whose voices and choices depend on it.

September is a special month for our language community. It ends with a celebration of something at the heart of what we do: International Translation Day.

But before we celebrate, we want to hear from you. Every translator and interpreter has that one story that stayed with them:
✔️ A project that surprised you.
✔️ A text you’ll never forget.
✔️ A client who changed your perspective.
✔️ A moment when you realized just how much your work matters.

What’s the story that has stayed with you throughout your professional journey?
It doesn’t have to be long. Just tell us what happened—and why you still remember it.

💬 Share your story in the comments or send it to us by DM.

We may feature some of your stories as part of our International Translation Day celebration. ❤️

Which of these would make you say, “I still remember that one…”?

📄 The project that challenged you in a completely unexpected way.
💬 The client conversation that changed how you approach your work.
🌎 The assignment that opened your eyes to another culture.
❤️ The person whose story stayed with you long after the job was over.
💡 The moment you realized your work was making a real difference.

We want to hear yours!
Tell us the story in the comments—or send us a Message. A few sentences are enough. We're collecting stories from our community to celebrate International Translation Day together. They will be featured in our next Newsletter.

What’s one professional moment you’ll never forget?
