You may have already seen FM Opera’s cast announcement, but if you haven’t had a chance, we are excited to share the incredible vocalists leading our upcoming co‑production of Il Tabarro, part of a weekend celebrating the music of Giacomo Puccini, presented by Fargo-Moorhead Opera and the Fargo‑Moorhead Symphony Orchestra.

Set on a working barge along the Seine in Paris around 1910, Il Tabarro unfolds as day turns to dusk. Stevedores unload cargo, music drifts across the river, and beneath the rhythms of everyday life, tensions quietly simmer. Michele, the barge’s owner, and his wife Giorgetta are bound together by loss yet emotionally distant. Luigi, a young dockworker, carries his own dreams and longings, while La Frugola offers a glimpse of warmth, humor, and hope amid the hardship.

As the program progresses, unspoken desires rise to the surface, relationships are tested, and Puccini’s music draws us deep into a world where love, memory, and longing collide. Compact, cinematic, and intensely human, Il Tabarro is a masterclass in musical storytelling.

✨ Something Special Is Coming This April ✨

This April 25 & 26, we are thrilled to share an exciting co-production with the Fargo-Moorhead Opera celebrating the music of Giacomo Puccini.

The collaboration features Puccini’s gripping one‑act opera Il Tabarro (The Cloak), a dark and intimate story set on a Parisian barge. Centered on a strained marriage, a secret love affair, and the devastating consequences of jealousy and loss, Il Tabarro is compact, intense, and powerfully dramatic. The program will also include additional beloved arias and orchestral selections by Puccini, showcasing the beauty of his music.

This program brings together two local arts organizations, shared creative vision, and a passion for storytelling through music. Whether you are a longtime opera lover or simply curious to experience something new, this is a wonderful place to begin.

a Tribute to Three Tenors Spotlight: Jane Linde Capistran ✨

We are proud to welcome Jane Linde Capistran as our fearless Conductor for A Tribute to Three Tenors!

An esteemed conductor and violinist with deep roots in our community, Jane brings decades of musical leadership, artistry, and passion to the podium. A Moorhead native, she began her musical journey as a young violinist before earning degrees from Bemidji State University and the University of Iowa, launching a career devoted to both performance and music education.

Jane recently retired after 17 years as Assistant Professor of Music at Concordia College, where she conducted the Symphonia Orchestra and mentored generations of student musicians. Her impact across the region also includes 18 years leading the Fargo-Moorhead Area Senior High Youth Symphony, inspiring young artists throughout the community.

In addition to her work on the podium, Jane serves as Associate Conductor and Principal Second Violin of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra and performs actively as a chamber musician across the Upper Midwest.

With a career dedicated to excellence in performance and education, Capistran brings extraordinary experience and heart to this celebration of the legendary Three Tenors.
