So I’ve gotten into the niche world of miniature art and dollhouses lately. I built this house from cardboard, paper, toothpicks,paper mache, clay, and stone. It was my “fun” project over the summer and through making this I realized how intimate and special miniature art can be. I expect there will be more along this line of making in the future.

Ok. (Long post warning) I understand the need for caution. I understand that this is a confusing and scary time. I understand the logic behind self-isolation. I accept the state that I and the rest of the world are in currently. That doesn’t change the fact that I won’t get to step into the Pears print studio again for the rest of the semester and who knows how long after that. I was not a printmaker before attending NDSU last fall. Now I consider myself one thanks to incredible instruction from . I was working on a book. The new skill set I was learning set my imagination on fire with possibilities. The privilege of being able to touch a press has been revoked and I’m really sad about it. I’m sad that I won’t get to see my painting studio or draw from a model or stain my fingers with ink for months. This is really hard. I’ll continue to create from home with what I’ve got and I hope that the rest of my artist friends continue to as well. Stay strong, keep making. @ PEARS

This guy was painted in one night sometime in early December for a painting class where I was exploring themes involving the circus. I’ve always been intimidated by animals but this guy just flowed right on out of me! The tiger has turned into a sort of ‘mascot’ for the Cirque de Meg. Guess who’s ready for spring semester???? THIS GIRL is super excited to get back in the groove with the paint brush and chisels! I’ll be focusing my energy on continuing with my circus magic and hopefully making some really rad woodcuts! Less than a week until school is back, I’m nervous but PUMPED to keep on creating!
