There’s even more to discover with Elfrida Andrée’s Overture in G minor, from a pioneering Swedish composer, and Poul Ruders’ Tundra, a modern tribute to Sibelius.

🎶 Masterworks I starts TOMORROW!

This weekend’s Masterworks program brings together American music from across generations. Alongside Carlos Simon’s contemporary Four Black American Dances, we look back to two composers who helped shape the sound of American classical music in the 20th century

🎻 Barber’s beloved Violin Concerto, performed this weekend by William Hagen, moves from soaring, lyrical melodies to a thrilling final movement filled with speed and virtuosity.

🎶 Hanson’s Symphony No. 2 “Romantic” lives up to its name with sweeping themes, rich orchestral colors, and an unabashed belief in music’s ability to move us.

Together with Carlos Simon’s Four Black American Dances, these works showcase American classical music across generations and the many ways American composers have found their own voice.
