🎉 It's my birthday, so naturally I decided the best way to celebrate was to give myself more work. 😂

Today we're officially launching "From the Fireside", our new blog at Falls Mills Farm.

If you've ever enjoyed our stories, recipes, homesteading adventures, community projects, Harvest Connection updates, or my occasional campfire ramblings, this is where you'll find more of them.

Our first post is all about why we created the Fireside Gathering Society and why we believe community is worth investing in.

🐔 "Why don't you let your chickens free-range all the time?"

Well... because apparently our local wildlife has opinions. 😅

Over the last few weeks, visitors to The Wood Yard have included:

🦉 Barred Owl
🦅 Osprey
🦅 Red-tailed Hawk
🦅 Bald Eagle

All spotted right here at Falls Mills Farm.

Don't worry—the chickens still get plenty of outdoor time. We just prefer that they don't become part of somebody else's dinner plans. 🤣

Nature is one of the things we love most about living here. Sometimes it's beautiful. Sometimes it's hilarious. And sometimes it reminds us that free-range comes with fine print.

These lavender bundles were harvested from plants that were just 'plugs' when we planted last year. Lavender can grow so fast.
