Sooo…I’ve been so busy with school that I haven’t stayed on top of much else. I assumed I’d be out of this contest by now, because I knew it was basically a popularity contest, but thought it’d be fun to try.
I received a notice the other day that I was in the top 15 and headed to the third round! 🤗 Wow! But that seemed pretty weird since I have a small following and hadn’t done any sharing for weeks. Then I started looking at every People’s Artist page I could find. Amazingly, EVERY single artist I looked at had made it to the top 15. It just feels weird.
I’ve gone back and forth on this for a few days, but after noticing that, I’ve decided to withdraw.
I’m really thankful for everyone who voted, shared my posts, commented, and supported me through all of this. Seeing people rally behind my artwork honestly meant so much to me. ❤️
At the end of the day though, some parts of the competition just didn’t sit right with me — I knew it was set up as a popularity contest from the get go. I read all the fine print. I did not realize there would be an option to buy votes, that hasn’t sat right with me. My art is something that’s very personal to me, and I have to trust my gut when something doesn’t feel fully aligned with my values.
This wasn’t an easy decision, because I know so many of you were excited and cheering me on. And to anyone who spent money on votes for me — please know I appreciate your support more than I can say, and I’m genuinely sorry. (Send me a note and I’ll send you a print so your money was not wasted.)
I’m just starting to feel uncomfortable with it and I feel good about stepping away.
🥰 Thank you all for supporting my art, not just in competitions, but all the time!! 🥰 That support means way more to me than any contest ever could. I’m excited to keep creating and sharing work that feels authentic and meaningful to me.

I’m excited to share that I’ve been accepted into The People’s Artist competition, presented by Johnny Depp.

This is a nationwide competition celebrating artists across all mediums, with the chance to win $25,000, be featured in Artforum, and showcase work in Los Angeles—all while supporting The Art of Elysium and the impact art can have on people’s lives.

Voting officially opens May 4th, and I’d appreciate your support when the time comes. ❤️

Here’s how it all works, give it a read and then bid, bid, bid! 🤗

BUYERS & DONORS—
THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT POST ABOUT THE CLOSING OF THE AUCTION. PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY.

The auction closes noon CST 4/11/26. It is a soft close auction. This post is to help buyers and donors understand how to be prepared.

Payment Options & Info:

We are able to accept Zelle, Venmo, and PayPal. We prefer to accept them in that order because of fees and ease of use. Please be prepared to pay with one of those options. We do not accept checks. If you are truly unable to use any of these options, please contact us.

If you are using PayPal, please use the Friends & Family function. Please do not choose the buy/sell option on Venmo either. If a large number of buy/sell transactions come through, PayPal will lock up Kyle’s account and require proof of what he is selling. It is a real pain unlocking it.

Please know how to use F&F if you are using PayPal. The money does not touch our hands. It goes straight to Caleb. If you are uncomfortable with this protocol, please reach out to us and we will discuss further.

DO NOT ACCEPT FRIEND REQUESTS FROM ACCOUNTS PRETENDING TO BE US. WE WILL NEVER FRIEND REQUEST YOU FOR ANY REASON. AND ESPECIALLY DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY TO ANY ACCOUNT THAT FRIEND REQUESTS YOU OR SENDS YOU A PAY LINK WITH SOME RANDOM NAME ATTACHED TO IT. WE WILL MESSAGE YOU FOR PAYMENT THROUGH THE MESSAGE FEATURE ON THE POST FOR THE ITEM YOU HAVE WON. WE WILL NOT CONTACT YOU ANY OTHER WAY. IF YOU RECEIVE A FRIEND REQUEST FROM A PHONY ACCOUNT, PLEASE REPORT IT.

How to bid properly:

Make sure to scroll through the page newsfeed to find the auction posts, not the photos at the top of the page. Bids made on photos will not be valid.

Each of items are listed individually. Bids are made in the comment section. BE SURE TO LOOK AT THE SETTING AT THE TOP OF THE COMMENT SECTION. If it is set to “Most Relevant”, change it to “All Comments” so that you can see each comment and ensure you are bidding the correct amount. Incorrect bids will not be accepted.

If you accidentally bid incorrectly, please place your new bid as an entirely new comment, not a response to your old bid. Response comment bids cannot be accepted because they cannot be seen when the post is opened.

DO NOT EDIT OR DELETE YOUR BIDS, EVEN IF THEY ARE INCORRECT. This is explicitly against the auction rules and the rule exists for a reason. Breaking this rule will get you banned from the page at our discretion. We will eliminate incorrect bids once you have replaced the bid with a new one.

CLOSING PROCESS:

Because of the impreciseness of Facebook’s time markers and the inability to tell exactly who won in a tie situation, we do a soft close auction format. This auction is large, so this section is important to pay attention to.

At the close of the auction (noon CST 4/11/26), we will begin the process of closing bidding on each item individually with a comment that states, “THIS ITEM IS CLOSED”. If this comment is not yet in the comment section, you may continue to bid on the item until it is.

We ask that you use this as a method to finish out bidding wars rather than sneak in last minute bids on a technicality, but we stick to this format no matter what. At the end of the day, making the most money for Kyle is what matters. Still, we’d ask you to use good judgement and be sporting. We allow fast paced bidding wars to play out. Once bidding pauses for more than 10 mins, we close the item. This process takes time, so please be patient.

The winning bid will be confirmed in the comments as well with the winner tagged. Please have your approved payment method ready to roll. Again, this is a big auction, so don’t panic if you aren’t contacted for payment immediately. We’ll get to you as fast as possible. If you have been tagged as the winner, you will hear from us.

Winners will have 24 hrs from contact to pay for their items. Once the winners have paid, the donors will be notified by us with winner names and addresses/contact info.

Once payment is completed, custom orders must be placed as soon as possible and will not be accepted after a year has passed from the end of the auction. I can’t believe I have to say that, but I do. Lol. If you win a custom order, please be timely and courteous in your ordering. Please wait for the donor to contact you after we have confirmed your payment.

Please remember these donors have year-round businesses that deserve your support! Miss out on an item you really wanted? Take a liking to a certain donation? Talk to our donors! They make this all happen, and they are all great people! Show them some love long after this auction closes! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Donor section:

DONORS: PLEASE AWAIT PAYMENT CONFIRMATION AND BUYER’S NAME/ADDRESS FROM US BEFORE MOVING FORWARD WITH SHIPPING OR ORDER TAKING ON CUSTOM DONATIONS.

Donors: once the item has been paid for, you must provide us with tracking info within 1 week of the auction close unless your item is custom and being made to order. If that is the case, you will provide us with the approximate window in which the item will be completed and provide tracking upon shipping.

Donors: Custom orders must be placed by the buyer within a year of the auction. If a buyer does not place their order within the year, you are not required to fulfill it, but may use your discretion if you are in a position to fulfill the order still. Likewise, custom orders must be fulfilled by you within a year as well.

I’ve been quiet for a while and took a bit of a step back from art and shows. Life shifted, and so did my creative rhythm. But when this equine show came up, I felt that familiar pull — because horses have always been at the center of my work and my heart.

Although my work didn’t make it into the final exhibition for the 2nd Annual Masters of Equine Art at Wild Heart Gallery, this drawing — “Elegance” — was selected as one of the Top 100 jury picks and that’s pretty cool! 👍🏻
