WILLING TO TRAIN
On call Part-time work. Need staff to pick up calls for various clients. Theater Located on Fallbrook High School campus. We have a mixture of High School District clients and outside rentals that come through the theater.
Scope of Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance as needed for rental events in the theater. Work may include setup; strike; sound, lighting or video operation; carpentry and painting; rigging and fly rail operation.
Must be open to working on every aspect of the show. All staff at the Bob Burton Center work rail, sound, and lights.
Duties
Installs rigging, lighting, sound equipment, and scenery for theatrical, musical, and other entertainment events in theaters and other event spaces. In consultation with supervisor and renter, determine type and location of lighting, sound, sets, props, and scenery required for specific events.
Operate lighting, sound, video and stage equipment during rehearsals and performances, following audio or visual cues.
Confer with other staff members and with clients to ensure the correct provision of technical services for events. Monitor and track equipment usage for each event to ensure accurate event billing
Program and maintain computerized and digital lighting and sound equipment.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Must be open-minded to learn new skills and techniques related to the position.
Job-Specific Skills and Competencies
Understanding of networking schema used in modern control protocols in theater and entertainment technology such as DMX512 and RDM (Remote Device Management)Familiarity with modern lighting consoles and understanding of programming logic and skills used in advanced digital lighting systemsUnderstanding of digital audio systems which utilize a combination of software, hardware, and network protocols to deliver uncompressed, multi-channel, low-latency digital audio over standard Ethernet networksFamiliar with how to operate and how a fly system worksAbility to utilize digital audio consoles to provide sound reinforcement in support of events and performancesBasic to intermediate level of proficiency on equipment and systems used in modern entertainment industryUnderstanding of basic video projection set up including best practices for individual situations, lens selection, cable management, source management, and monitoring optionsIntermediate to advanced level working knowledge of the software systems typical of the entertainment industry such as QLabAbility to work under pressure on projects and work with people of varying experience levelsExcellent organization skills and the ability to problem solve and manage concurrent projects within established guidelinesStrong communication skills – verbal, written and interpersonalAbility to work independently and as a member of a team, with a commitment to collaboration
Working Conditions
Ability to work under the following working conditions: Exposure to noise and dust, heights associated with rigging and catwalks; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, climbing ladders, working at heights on ladders and lifts, frequent use of stairs, work in low light conditions, and frequent use of tools. This position will be expected to work extended hours, night and weekend shifts required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to carry, push or pull items up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and wear safety equipment as required, including safety harnesses.
Each applicant must undergo a background check, drug test, and physical once approved for employment in the theater.
