I honestly don’t know where Jess and I would be without the autism community and the parents who were willing to share their experiences with us.
From the very beginning, even before Mae was officially diagnosed,we were welcomed with open arms. Other parents took the time to share resources, advice, and the things that helped their own families navigate this journey. They didn’t have to, but they did.
Some of the most valuable information we’ve ever received didn’t come from a textbook, a website, or a professional. It came from parents who were living it every single day. The little tips, tricks, and words of encouragement that help you make it through difficult moments often come from someone who truly understands what you’re going through.
The autism community has been one of the most supportive, compassionate, and welcoming groups of people we’ve ever encountered. Whether it was celebrating victories, sharing struggles, or simply reminding us that we weren’t alone, this community has helped shape our journey in ways I can never fully put into words.
For that, I will always be grateful. 💙🧩
Thank you to every parent who answered a question, shared a resource, offered encouragement, or simply let us know we weren’t walking this road alone. You made a difference. More than you’ll ever know. 💙🧩❤️

💙🧩 💪🏼To all of our Special Education Teachers… thank you. 🧩💙💪🏼
Many special education teachers spend a portion of their own paycheck every year on sensory toys, fidgets, visual supports, and classroom resources for their students.
Think about that for a moment.
These are the people we trust with our children for the majority of the day. These are the people on the front lines—celebrating every small victory, fighting for every syllable, every word, every step, and every milestone. They advocate for our children when they struggle, encourage them when they feel frustrated, and help them reach places many people never thought possible.
As parents, we all want our children to have every opportunity to succeed. The teachers helping make that happen shouldn’t have to reach into their own pockets to provide the tools and resources needed to support them.
At Mae’s Playground, one of our goals is to help lighten that burden, even if it’s only a little.
If you’re a special education teacher and could use a sensory busy board, texture panel, or other sensory resource for your classroom, please don’t hesitate to send us a message. We’d love to do our best to get one into your hands before the upcoming school year.
Together, we can support the people who spend every day supporting our kids. ❤️

After one hard winter, I knew I wanted to rebuild a sensory space in my backyard for Mae, especially after learning so much about sensory play over the last year💙
I’ve been bouncing around ideas, and this weekend I decided that this time I’m going to share each little project along the way, every build, every idea, and hopefully spread a little autism awareness in the process. 🧩💪🏼

This is exactly why we’ll keep fighting to check every box on this list. 💙🧩
Because something as simple as going to a park shouldn’t feel impossible for families like ours. We won’t stop until our children have a beautiful, safe, inclusive place where they can play, feel accepted, and just be kids.
That’s the mission. That’s the fight. 💪🏼

Inspiring story of how to get it done.💙💪🏼when I went into City Hall to propose the sensory Park, I was told about these kids that came in and knew exactly what they wanted for a skate park. They knew what type of vision was best. Their journey started in 2021 and they never gave up. This Motivates us to keep pushing for the best possible space for our the Autism community. Great job to this group.💙💪🏼

An amazing new Lafayette skate park in Fall River is ready to reopen May 24. Meet the local skaters who made it happen.
