Caroline is the artist behind CMZ Designs and the creator of the wood spirits (and other items like cutting boards) that many of you have stopped to admire in the shop.

After Hurricane Helene, Caroline lost access to both her home and studio. Instead of giving up, she started working with storm-fallen branches and turning them into something entirely new.

Each wood spirit begins with a piece of wood that could have been discarded and ends with a face, a personality, and a second chance.

Her work reminds us that creativity doesn’t ignore hard things. Sometimes it transforms them.

Andrea C**n is a documentary-style photographer and birth doula based here in Western North Carolina, her work is honest & grounded.

She focuses on the moments people want to remember years later. Families, motherhood, quiet everyday moments, connection, all captured in a way that feels natural.

At Wilderness Muse, we carry her framed photography, frame-ready pieces, cards, and postcards featuring her work, and she also works with us this Sunday.

Really happy to have Andrea and her work as part of the shop. It’s a breath of fresh air!

Tony and Dee are the couple behind Beaded Monkey, creating natural gemstone stretch bracelets built to last.

They originally started making bracelets because they kept running into the same problems with the ones they were buying: weak string, small sizing, cheap materials, and bracelets constantly breaking after a short amount of time. So they started experimenting, bought a LOT of gemstones, and figured out how to make them better themselves!

Every bracelet is double strung with pre-stretched materials and reinforced with liquid cement over the knots. You can feel the difference when you pick one up. They have weight to them and the quality is immediately noticeable.

They’ve also been longtime Wilderness customers, which makes having their work in the shop feel extra special!!

Come see their work in person this week!

Spice Witch started because Sabrina got tired of condiments that were either bland, overly complicated, or full of ingredients she didn’t want in her kitchen.

So she started making her own! 🧙‍♀️🪄

What began as experimenting with chili oil during COVID turned into a full business built around bold flavor, real ingredients, and making cooking feel less intimidating and more fun. Before Spice Witch, Sabrina spent more than 15 years as a photographer and creative director, and that creative background shows up in everything she makes.

The first jars had googly eyes on them because it made her laugh. Now Spice Witch is stocked in places all over Asheville, including all five Asheville Ace Hardware locations, and we’re really excited to have it at Wilderness Muse too 🩷.

If you’ve tried the chili crisp already, you probably understand why people keep coming back for more!

Waverly is the artist behind the mushroom mugs you keep asking about at Wilderness Muse 🍄

She started making pottery after realizing the traditional school path just wasn’t for her, eventually teaching herself ceramics and building Waverly Long Studios from the ground up with an old kiln and throwing wheel.

After years working out of Virginia, she made her way to Asheville and brought her ceramics to WNC.

Her mugs are fun, earthy, and fit right in! We love all things Waverly Long!

Nanette is one of those people who balances creativity, business, community, and showing up for others all at the same time.

She creates pewter and crystal suncatchers for the shop, works with small businesses on branding and marketing, and is currently training for the NYC Marathon while fundraising for brain tumor awareness in memory of her cousin Danny.

There’s a lot of heart behind what she does, and I think you can feel that when you talk to her or spend time around her work.

Really glad she’s part of this little corner of WNC with us. Half of her sales are going to her NYC marathon fundraiser this month, so come support the cause.

Over the next few weeks, we’re introducing the people who make Wilderness Muse feel like Wilderness Muse. Thanks for following along 🩷

The shop changes a little every single day and that’s part of what we love most about it 🩷

Wilderness Muse is a must-see on your next trip to Asheville NC. We’ve packed this little renovated car wash with work from dozens of local artists, makers, plant people, and creatives, and it’s just 15 minutes from Downtown!

Thank you to Aud Agency for these photos and for capturing so many little moments. We can’t wait to keep sharing them!

Some makers have a style you can spot from across the room before you even see their name attached to it.

Holly Aubert is the silversmith and artist behind Outlaw Alchemy, creating mixed metal jewelry and stonework that feels a little wild in the best way. Her pieces carry this grounded, weathered, rebellious energy that people instantly connect with.

There’s a reason her jewelry has built such a loyal following around here. It feels personal, strong, and untamed.

Over the next few weeks, we’re introducing the artists who make Wilderness Muse what it is.

Really grateful to have Outlaw Alchemy as part of the Wilderness Muse community!
