Since it’s cold and rainy out today, stay dry and warm in Spotlight Studios for the Judy Awards as we celebrate the kids and adults that made this season so amazing!
Open to all Spotlight kids past and present and families.
This is your OFFICIAL invite to the 2026 Spotlight Judy Awards!
Sunday June 14 at 2pm Spotlight is hosting the annual "Judy Awards". This is an awards ceremony much like the Tony Awards, as a way to celebrate the amazing season Spotlight has had, a way to reconnect with cast members you haven't seen in awhile, and...
A way for Spotlight to give back to you! We're going to be handing out some very special awards! One member of each cast will be awarded a "Spotlight Performer Award" - for that one cast member that went above and beyond during rehearsals and on-stage, worked hard off-stage, and was a joy to have at rehearsal.
Someone from the entire season will be awarded "The Judy Award" for that one person that just stood out in growth, drive and excitement - that shows the most potential - that embodies everything that Spotlight is all about. This person will have their name permanently displayed in a special location at the studio.
We will also be awarding "The Maddie Award" named after John and Kaitlyn's daughter Maddie who battled leukemia in the hospital for a year. This award is given to a younger cast member with a caring and positive attitude.
We will also be making a special announcement - the entire 2026-2027 season of shows and events! Both the Fall and the Spring semesters!!
ALL cast members from all the season shows are welcomed and encouraged to attend. This is a free event. Dress up, bring your cameras, bring snacks to share, and bring your smiles. It's going to be a fun day.
PLEASE RSVP to John at [email protected] by June 10 to let me know if you can attend.
The JUDY Awards are named for John's mom, who passed away in 2000. Out of all the people John calls an inspiration to him in theatre, he counts his Mom as the most influential. Despite the fact that John would cry as a baby whenever his Mom would sing, and despite that fact that John would ask his Mom to move over on the piano bench and say "No Mom, THIS is how it's played" (two things John does not remember, but was told over and over) - his Mom was always the most present at all his shows. From painting a rock in his first big production he performed in of "Wizard of Oz" to baking braided bread for EVERY performance of the first musical he directed, "Fiddler on the Roof" - she was always there at every show, cheering him on. Now she has the best seat in the house. This is John's way of keeping her inspiration alive and growing.
Hope to see you all there!
John 😊
