Teacher Assistant of The Week: Miss Olivia W!

"I love to help kids follow their dreams, and being a TA is a perfect way to do that. I like to babysit, and teach kids. My favorite style of dance is Jazz or Tap. I've been dancing for 11 years. Being a TA and a member of the SEDC family is an honor. I never want to stop dancing and I can't imagine my life without dance. When I have a bad day at school, I can come to dance with a smile because I know the kids will make me happy. One of my dreams is to become a dance teacher, and being aTA is the closest thing I can do to being one."

Teacher Assistant of The Week: Miss Claire!

"I love being a TA for many, many reasons. First off, I love to see everyone's smiling faces as they walk into class, excited to learn, play, make new friends, and of course, dance. I have loved music and dance my entire life, and I love sharing my passions with my dance friends. From Tots 1 to Preps 2, I've enjoyed working with them all. As a junior, everyone asks about my plans for college, and as I've thought about it and pondered many wonderful opportunities, I've landed on Early Education with a focus on Music and Movement (Dance!). Being a TA for the third year has helped me realize just how important dance is in my life. I see the pride in a dancer who just learned something they've been working on, and see the confidence the young dancer has on stage when they were really scared just weeks before."

SEDC competition students Kenzie and Dom traveled to NH for the Granite State Tap Festival held at the Aaron Tolson Institute of Dance. In honor of National Tap Dance Day, Kenzie and Dom both took classes from amazing teachers including Aaron Tolson and Derrick Grant. Both were accepted to perform their solos in the closing show of the festival. Fun fact: Kenzie made it on the flyer. 💙
