With the help of a friend we canned 45 jars of Blueberry Vanilla Bourbon jam yesterday! We get our blueberries from Meadowlark Farms in Fairhope. All organic. Ya’ll go visit them and get you some blueberries!

And just like that our mama hen hatched 2 and someone gave us 25 chicks. So Mama has adopted 5 and is the proud mama of 7. The rest are in the brooder box. Looking forward to seeing how many hens and roos we get.

These cream legbar chickens are getting so big. You can tell the difference in the Roos and Hens pretty early on due to their color feathers. I have two Roos from this breed. They will lay blue eggs and in another month we should be seeing a whole lotta blue eggs in our basket.

We have Welbars and Barred Rock hens with these. I’m so excited to add 22 more hens to our flock that will be giving us eggs. Raised from baby chicks right here on the homestead since February.

It’s a lot of work but totally worth it!
