Watercolor Lift images are made by using the paintbrush to lift watercolor off of the paper while it’s still wet. It’s kind of a negative-painting process. The ‘lifting’ reveals the paper beneath and creates the illusion of light; the resulting image is simple and complex at the same time. Laying of paint in different intensities and lifting of pigments gives the image such depth and interest. And it’s a quick study (literally) because you only have till the paint dries to form the image, which is about 4-5 minutes if we’re talking water on paper. I did this image from a figurine I have. What other images should I do ? These are fun and quick studies and I’m gonna play around with it more. 🤍
