40 years. Countless memories.
It started with a couple of kids from Brooklyn, a table saw, and a vision bigger than the shop they stood in.
What began in 1986 grew into something far beyond fabrication. It became a company built on trust, craftsmanship, creative risks, impossible deadlines, lifelong friendships, and the people who showed up every day to make it all happen.
Our Co-founder and CEO, Bob Usdin, reflects on the journey from building scenery as a young theater maker to helping shape a company that now serves clients and creative teams across the globe. If you’ve watched television, gone on a cruise ship, tuned into the news, stepped inside a museum exhibition, or experienced a live event, there’s a good chance you’ve seen our work.
The work evolved, the technology advanced, and the markets expanded, but the heart of the company never changed (except the logo!).
Over four decades, we’ve had the privilege of collaborating with some of the world’s most recognized brands, networks, institutions, and productions. But the memories that stay with us most were built inside our shops — from Red Hook, to Long Island City, to Bayonne, and now Fairfield. The mentors, problem-solvers, fabricators, artists, innovators, and generations of talent who helped turn an idea into a lasting legacy.
40 years later, we’re still building. Still learning. Still evolving. And most importantly, still doing it together.
