Meet Nancy Sanchez, longtime French horn player and member of the Solano Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors.
Nancy joined the Solano Symphony Orchestra in 1998 after moving to Vacaville from Half Moon Bay, where she played principal horn for the Coastside Orchestra.
Her musical journey actually began on trumpet in elementary school, thanks to her mom reminding her that “Dad’s trumpet is waiting for you in the closet!” That eventually led Nancy to the French horn in high school, college, and many local ensembles throughout her life.
When her family moved to Vacaville, Nancy answered an ad looking for a French horn player - a decision that connected her to a close musical community, incredible performance opportunities, and lifelong friendships. She now plays with several groups, but admits the Solano Symphony Orchestra is her favorite.
Her connection to the Symphony also helped lead her to a career as a music teacher, from which she is now retired. Her hope for her students has always been that they continue making music long after their school years are behind them.
As a member of the Board of Directors, Nancy loves being able to give back to the organization that helped her feel connected to a new community.
“The Solano Symphony Orchestra is more than just performances. It is a path to connection, creativity, personal growth, and immense joy for the musicians involved.”
We’re so grateful to Nancy for the many years she has shared her music, time, and heart with the Solano Symphony Orchestra.
