New exhibit at the hospital...here's a news release about it...

“OUR COLORFUL WORLD” IS THE NEW ART EXHIBIT

“Our Colorful World” is the theme of the newly-hung art exhibit by the North Central Arkansas Artist League (NCAAL) at Ozark Health Medical Center, 2500 Highway 65 S. in Clinton. The public is invited to view 66 pieces by art by 11 local area artists, which are all available to purchase, with a portion of each sale helping Hospital Auxiliary projects. One artist is donating all her sales money to the Auxiliary. Be sure to visit both exhibits, one upstairs near the cafeteria and one downstairs in the Outpatient Wing hallways.

This exhibit will hang until mid-January. Artists include Mark Davis of Shirley; Carolyn Goettsch of Edgemont; Terri Thrasher of Mt. View; Joyce Berry, Jane Gortney, Cristina Vargas, Cindy Schweitz, all of Fairfield Bay; Carolyn Kuykendall of Greers Ferry; Bobbye Bennett of Clinton; Dianne Dudzik and Joyce Hartmann of Choctaw.

Subjects include Ozark farms and barns, landscapes, horses, chickens and wild birds, flowers or all kinds, lake scenes, autumn scenes, and wildlife. Local landscapes include the Shirley Bridge, Highway 65, Clinton County Courthouse, Main Street Shirley, and more. Different media are used, including watercolor, acrylic, pastel, colored pencil, serigraphy, and mixed media.

There’s something for everyone; come out and enjoy the exhibit! Best hours to visit would be between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. any day of the week. The Gift Shop handles sales. If they are closed or to answer other questions, please call NCAAL Hospital Art Coordinator Joyce Hartmann at 501-745-6615,

PHOTO CUTLINES: These two paintings by artist Diane Dudzik are just a sample of the 65 colorful paintings just hung at the hospital: a bright red Northern Cardinal and a sunset picture of a journey home to Clinton on Highway 65. The public is welcome to view and enjoy both exhibits, upstairs and downstairs.

Creations in a different medium! So freaking hot outside, keeping cool with ice cream…bananas, blueberries, strawberries, marshmallow and pineapple topping, nuts and candy, whipped cream, maraschino cherries, and Terri’s terrific chocolate cherry dumplings cake. Oh happy day!

Upcoming schedule: Hospital changeover Aug. 31...will hang through December...theme is "Our Colorful World". The following exhibit from January to April will be "Our Town"...each exhibiting artist will show some of their favorite places and sights in their home town, wherever it may be. Then Oct. 3rd, we plan to show and sell our art at the Ozark Moonshine & Music Festival ; we'll be located in the distillery sampling room. I hope to do personalized cartoons/caricatures again, and we'll all have art there, always a fun event. Oct. 26 will be our art exhibit changeover at the Conference Center in Fairfield Bay; there are exhibitors there from all over the state, and can be seen daily. In December we'll again donate a decorated tree (theme is fishing) for the Festival of Trees in Fairfield Bay. We hope to have a couple workshops sometime...and we meet every Monday at the Lions Den in the Bay, where we paint together from 9 to 2, eat lunch and have a good time. So we're a busy group. Vicki Thibodeaux stories are heart-warming. Here she is, holding the board she painted a beautiful Louisiana scene on today. She paints on canvas, rocks, metal, wood, lots of things...and her work always has a lot of detail. She taught Vacation Bible School at Antioch General Baptist Church in Fox recently, and had her class make goody bags for charity. The kids were enthusiastic about it, filling the bags with snacks and their own art. The results was 60 (!) goody bags she took to Ozark Regional Medical Center to give to cancer patients who spend every Wednesday there, waiting to receive the excellent and often curative care of Dr. Patel. The patients really loved them; each had the name and address of the child who put the bag together so they might get a letter in the mail, someday. Vicki is one of our top sellers at the hospital exhibits, too. One of the nursing home residents bought three of her paintings to hang in his room. When Vicki learned about that, she painted him a small painting and went to the hospital to meet him and thank him by giving him the painting. She plans to return to live in Louisiana sometime next year; we sure will miss her!
