University Mall Theatres is running a survey because they are considering changes in how they do business. They want to "hear" from you.

If this is your go-to movie theater, be sure to do the survey. Even if it is not, it may still be worth your time to do the survey.

Hello! We would like to know more about your moviegoing habits, as well as your feedback about University Mall Theatres.

The only(?) movie theater in Northern Virginia not offering open captions is the newish Paragon Founders Row in Falls Church. Can someone in NoVa test the new open caption law by requesting an open caption screening there? Law requires a response within eight days. Post a comment if you make such a request, so we can monitor how well it does for attendance.

Virginia is not the only location for Paragon. If you can get the one in Falls Church to start offering open captions, maybe other locations will, too.

Browse the latest showtimes & movies now playing at Paragon Theaters and reserve your tickets online in advance today.

Update: The Regal Fox in Ashburn has posted its open caption screenings of Spider-Man. 12:45 pm on Sunday Aug 2 and 5:50 pm on Wednesday August 5. It must have *just* been posted because no seats have sold yet.

Who's ready for Spider-Man? In NoVA all theaters required to have open captions have already set them up, except for Regal Fox in Ashburn. That's as of early Wednesday morning 7/29 - so it could get set up later on Wednesday.

Which NoVA theaters are currently selling the most OC tickets for Spider-Man? So far, as of early Wednesday 7/29, it is the Alamo Woodbridge, closely followed by the Regal Springfield.

UPDATE: Two open caption screenings of "The Odyssey" have now been set up at the AMC Shirlington. One for Sunday and one for Tuesday.

Is the AMC Shirlington in Arlington, Virginia following the new open caption law? The Odyssey is opening, and the law requires "Within the first two operating weeks following a film's release, a theater shall provide at least four open captioning viewings." So we checked and could not find ANY open caption screenings of "The Odyssey" from today all the way to July 30! If you live in Arlington, send an email to AMC Shirlington at [email protected] to remind them of their obligations under the new law. Do not allow any NoVA theaters to shirk their new legal obligations when the vast majority of theaters are indeed complying with the new law.

Edit: for proof, see the BigScreen Cinema Guide page for the AMC Shirlington. No Odyssey screenings. (Edit2: now the bigscreen page shows the Odyssey screenings)

Today's the day! Virginia's open caption law is NOW in effect. Every theater in Northern Virginia has regular open caption screenings (either required or voluntary) EXCEPT the Paragon Founders Row in Falls Church, Virginia. But even there you can get an open caption screening if you request it.

If you do request it at the Paragon Founders Row, let us know how it went in the comments!

Well, that didn't take long! Today we found that the AMC Dine-in Midlothian in Midlothian, VA has started open captions. Now ALL theaters required to offer open captions in VA, are doing it or will be doing it soon. Enjoy, but don't overdo it on the popcorn!
