↓Summer Registration ↓ Norma’s Academy of Dance was established in 1972 by the late Norma B. Mitchell as a one-stop shop for culture featuring lessons in dance, drama, singing, piano, modeling and baton twirling. Through the years, some of the programs were discontinued, but the emphasis on dance remained. Now, the Academy offers several classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Pointe, Modern, Hip-Hop and more.

We’re still thinking about last season. 🖤

The performances, the growth, the energy backstage, the proud families, the quiet moments before the stage lights came up — all of it reminds us why this work matters so much.

It feels impossible that the season is already over, but at NAOD, the growth never really stops. Some of our dancers are already back in the studio this week for summer intensives, stepping into the next layer of their training with focus and excitement.

ICONIC brought together everything we love about Norma’s Academy of Dance — beautiful dancing, powerful storytelling, proud families, joyful backstage moments, and a community showing up in full celebration of our dancers.

This year, our dancers honored icons who have shaped our imagination, our history, our culture, and our sense of possibility — from Barack Obama to Princess Tiana and so many powerful figures in between.

A day full of smiles, celebration, and special moments ✨

This past Saturday, our NAOD families gathered for our Costume Pickup Celebration to celebrate a season of growth with awards, popcorn, face painting, classes, and finally getting to see their ICONIC concert costumes for the first time!
