Before I traveled between festivals as Vespa, I worked at – first as an attendent in the Butterfly Encounter, then as a naturalist and educator.

Believe it or not, I used to be quite scared of bugs, and I also used to experience severe social anxiety.

But Chattahoochee Nature Center (CNC), and the many mentors I found there, helped open entire new worlds to me. Worlds filled with facinating and misunderstood creatures, joyful human interactions, and so many small moments of wonder that hold the promise of a brighter future for our planet.

I will always be grateful for my time at CNC and so happy to return each summer as Vespa the Bug Fae.

Thank you for all the kind words and well wishes, bumblebees! 🧡 While the recovery process is taking a bit longer than I'd like, I can safely say that I am officially on the mend. 🩹✨️

Though I'm sorry to have missed a weekend of merriment, one benefit of this downtime has been the chance to dive into some of the newest books in my collection! 🐝📖🪲

I'll be at the 's Butterfly Festival this weekend, so if you're in the area, be sure to stop by and celebrate the pollinators with us!
