Hymenoptera friends at State Botanical Garden of GA. 🐝 A bumblebee (Bombas spp.) seemingly tucked in for the night, and two types of mason wasps (I *think* Eumenes spp. and Eudynerus spp.).

Did you know that eye arrangement can be a key factor in identifying spiders? 👀 It is generally very helpful for figuring out what family they belong to.

What is less helpful is the small size of many spiders, so my ID attempts tend to look a little something like this. 🤣

This fall I'll be fluttering out to Arab, Alabama to celebrate the Year of Fire at Mini Ren - Renaissance Faire! 🐉🔥

Legends tell of the mighty dragon Fafnir, keeper of an endless hoard of gold and jewels. For ages he guarded his treasure, but word has spread across the realm of a treasure greater than any hidden beneath a mountain—a treasure of laughter, adventure, spectacle, and wonder.

And so, in the Year of Fire, Fafnir has left his hoard and taken to the skies in search of the treasures of Mini Ren. On September 19th, the gates open once more, and the realm shall burn bright with excitement!

The dragon is coming. Will you answer the call?

A moment of appreciation for my new sweatshirt and favorite nonprofit .

The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation is an international nonprofit organization that protects the natural world through the conservation of invertebrates and their habitats.
