We are pleased to announce our incoming Artist in Residence from New York City, Maia Ramnath!

Coach Maia will be joining Golden Heart Performing Arts for a 90-day Residency beginning September 15th. She brings a new apparatus with her, the “Corde,” and so much more! Our community will surely be enriched were her knowledge and skills. We can’t wait to share the magic of Alaska-based circus with her!

As a freelance aerialist and modern dancer based in NYC, Maia Ramnath has worked with many dance and circus artists including Yonder Window Theater Company, Pat Catterson/Nine Lives Dance, Fly By Night Aerial Dance Theater, Hybrid Movement Company, Surface to Air Dance, the Neo-Political Cowgirls, the Merce Cunningham apprentice company, and others. Maia creates multi-disciplinary aerial-dance-theater-video assemblages as Constellation Moving (solo work)/Constellation Moving Company (collective projects), which have been presented at venues including NYC’s Theater for the New City, Dixon Place, The Muse Artist in Residency program, and the Dzul International Dance Festival in Campeche, Mexico. Maia teaches aerial silks and rope at Vital Climbing Gym, and formerly at Circus Warehouse. Maia is also a writer, teacher and historian.

It’s not too late to learn! Our next registration opens October 1st online at www.GoldenHeartAK.com. Ages 2 through adult.

> What’s the difference?

Silks (pink) and Sling (blue) are the same materials just rigged differently.

Sling is also known as “Hammock” and a very easy starting spot for beginners. It doesn’t focus as much on climbing and can be more comfortable. There is more spinning on Sling!

Silks are split into two tails that touch the ground and where Golden Heart Performing Arts started 11 years ago! We start low and build up the strength and confidence to take movement into the air. This is what we are most well known for in our community. You will notice that it is cross listed the fall with a new apparatus called “Corde de Lisse” and we have an Artist in Residence joining us this fall to teach the foundational skills for it!

Courses start Monday, August 17th. Register online now at www.GoldenHeartAK.com

It’s never too early to join the circus!

Calling all LITTLE MOVERS ages 2-6! Circus Playtime is an 8-week long session meeting once a week at 11am on Wednesdays OR Fridays. Courses start August 17th!

Introduce your little ones to the joy of circus in this playful 50-minute, parent-assisted class! With a Coach leading the fun, families will explore beginner acrobatics, games, and a rotating variety of circus apparatus while building strength, coordination, confidence, and listening skills in a safe and encouraging environment. No experience is needed, just come ready to play!

Parents will help guide and support their children throughout class (but won't be on the apparatus). Wear comfortable clothes, bring a water bottle, and get ready for an adventure!

This course is designed for ages 2-6 but newborns and infants are welcome to join their siblings.

One family registration includes all of your children ages 2-6, making it easy for siblings to learn and play together.

Class meets once a week for 8-weeks in a quarter! There is no performance or recital requirement.
