Sweet Mercy Tattoo is doing a one day flash event at the shop this Sunday. Tattoos are 100$. No tips expected but additional donations ARE welcome as well as donations of shelf stable food (including flour, sugar, spices, etc) as well as cold weather gear, hand warmers, bus tokens, water bottles, blankets, and the like. All profits will be going to The Breadline who will be hanging out all day with us. We will have refreshments available. First come, first served. We will have system for those that don’t want to remain on site while waiting for their turn. This is a cause that is close to my heart. About 15 years ago, I got real burnt out on humanity after living down south. There was just so much…pain…everywhere I looked. And no one seemed to care. No one even looked at anyone. It was a heartbreaking and lonely time, and s**t got real dark for me. So I quit tattooing for a year and got a job as a “peer support specialist” at a drop-in day center (to keep people warm during the day when the overnight shelters are closed and help them access services and find some sense of normalcy for a while) whose primary members were people who experienced homelessness or experiencing mental challenges health or other people who had unique vulnerabilities who needed a little love and some extra support. And those people, that time…it healed me in a profound way and helped me to find a way back to seeing something truly GOOD in the world. It made me a better person…not perfect…but better. And so now, helping to ensure that some of the very people I see day to day downtown and have grown to care can find some warmth in this world, especially work it’s this cold…it matters to me. So come by and visit and throw some effort into our community. Those that can, put your money where your heart is. And trust me, I know it’s rough out there for everyone right now so if YOU, ANY of YOU, ever need help, with anything, you hit me up. I’m right here with you. And if you can stop on Sunday so I can see your face, well that would be just fine. **khomelessness
