My sister shot some super stunning frames of studio time during her visit this summer. She captured the play, beauty and somatic nature of working with dye plants in such a special way!

Adoring these moments, and grateful for such a talented sis 🌱🧡

This summer has been a special one, building relationships, both human and flora. This work centers me and others, time and time again. Fairbanks, you’re wonderful.

✨ You’d be surprised by the range of colors marigolds and black eyed susan’s can create—

These flowers may look orange and yellow in the raw, but once dyed you’ll find a range of earth tone citrus’, sunshine yellows, olive and sage greens, and creamy golden browns!

Our first dye flower harvest at was today, and if this is just the first, we are excited for the end of season bounty! 🌿 feeling lucky and inspired to be able to nurture and help harvest these beauties with the guidance of flower guru and sustainable farmer, Megan Schulze, who started these babies by seed and soil.

Keep an eye out for our bundle dye kits sold locally this coming fall and holiday season 🧡

Still absolutely swooning from the four magical days spent in Seattle at with creating a natural palette 🎨

The chemistry, history and storytelling of natural color is truly endless and inspiring. I left with a stronger understanding of natural color and drive for a deeper studio practice.

Feeling incredibly grateful for this opportunity and the work put into this workshop series!

See you more this summer with further knowledge and craftsmanship on magnificent the world of Natural Dyes 🤍🌿

Colors of Guatemala ✨

Continuing education is a huge passion in my world, both as a facilitator a student. I’m looking forward to sharing new learnings and stories from this winter’s natural dye exploration, and future learnings from an upcoming session in Seattle this summer, where we will work with several extraction methods to create natural pigment.

Happy Summer all! Sol creativity is sparked!

Some of last years participants, up close plant palettes on silk and pretty workshop messes from bundle dyeing in the Georgeson Botanical Garden 2024 ✨

Words can’t explain how incredible the pigment we find in plants is, especially in summer Alaskan flora ✨

This years first workshop is June 22nd, celebrating solstice with silk dyed eye masks and bandanas as our project.
