UAF Department of Theatre and Film

UAF Department of Theatre and Film On stage or behind the camera, UAF Theatre & Film puts students at the center of the action.

With small classes, hands-on productions & faculty mentorship, we prepare artists to create & lead. Theatre UAF Mission Statement
Theatre UAF seeks to provide exemplary training in the Dramatic Arts, to contribute substantially and creatively to the advancement of the discipline of the Dramatic Arts, and to foster the vibrant cultural enhancement of the University community, Fairbanks, and the surrounding area. We aim to serve several overlapping constituencies within these communities, providing an interlocking web of education, artistic programming, research, resource, and service. We hold it axiomatic that the Dramatic Arts themselves serve a fundamental ritual and cultural human need—Theatre UAF will both strive to provide for that need and bring it within a formal frame for study, analysis, and ongoing development.

This week, we’re celebrating the theatre teachers who do so much more than direct productions.

They build rooms where students feel seen.
They create ensembles where every voice matters.
They help young people step into someone else’s story and, along the way, understand their own a little better.

To every theatre educator calling cues, building confidence, making space, solving problems, drying tears, opening doors, and reminding students that they belong.

Thank you. Your work changes students long after the curtain closes.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week.
