Whether you’ve been playing for six months or sixty years, everyone on the list deserves their turn. Staying within your slot keeps the night moving, gives the host a fighting chance 😂, and makes room for every style, every voice, and every level of experience.

The clock isn’t personal — it’s communal. ❤️

People may be talking, laughing, ordering food, catching up with friends—and still be taking in the music. Not every audience shows appreciation the same way.

So don’t measure the value of your song by how quiet the room gets.

Not every song gets a pin-drop room. Sometimes the best sign that someone is listening is a quiet nod from the corner, a smile across the room, or somebody looking up from their conversation at just the right moment. 🎶

You may not have the whole room—and you don’t need it.

Jumping in can be one of the best parts of an open mic—but not everyone is comfortable with it. Some people are still learning to play with others, some like to be prepared, and some just want to do the song the way they practiced it.

A quick “Want some company?” goes a long way. ❤️

And yes, that includes the table drummers, knee slappers, and self-appointed tambourine shakers in the audience. 😂

Spontaneous can be fun. Unexpected backup band? Maybe ask first.
