Lionville School of Dance

Lionville School of Dance LSOD proudly offers outstanding and fun dance education with a professional and nurturing staff.

At Lionville School of Dance, it is our mission and commitment to provide quality dance instruction and artistic training of the highest caliber. In developing and upholding a successful program, we offer all students a positive learning experience while promoting an atmosphere of excitement and fun. Our trained and experienced instructors strive to enhance students’ self-esteem, promote physical

fitness, discipline and a sense of accomplishment.

LSOD embraces opportunities for students and teachers to take master classes and attend conventions and conferences that would enhance an increased level of learning and skill. We often invite guest teachers into our studio so the opportunity to learn is convenient and comfortable. We also provide performance opportunities so that students may participate in the world of dance through community projects, competitions, and annual recitals to showcase their talents. It is very important to us to establish effective communication channels while exhibiting fairness, understanding, and generosity between management, teachers, students, and their families.

We had three beautiful recitals on May 30th and we are so proud of your dancers. Whether it was their first year or their senior year, it is such a privilege to watch them grow as dancers through the year.

Many, many thanks to our teachers, staff, and student assistants. Our LSOD teachers share their creative choreography, their technical skills, their positive outlooks, and especially their love of dance with our students every day. We can't say enough about how wonderful they are. Our office staff, Miss Melissa, Miss Chris, and Miss Keeley, are a welcoming presence in the studio for our students and families! Our student assistants make a huge difference for our younger dancers – they are wonderful helpers and role models and we are so thankful for them as well.

We also want to thank all our LSOD parents and families for sharing your children with us – we love watching them grow and bloom in the studio each week and hope that you enjoyed watching them perform as much as we did. We are especially grateful to our parent volunteers and our Dance Team Board, who do so much to support the studio and the dance team students all year long.

Recital photos will be available online by SUNDAY 6/21 (we expected them to be available earlier, but there have been some unexpected technical difficulties). Thanks for your patience!

Happy Recital Week, everyone! We are looking forward to seeing our dancers shine in front of an audience!

Important Info for Recital Day – Saturday, May 30th

Dancers should arrive at Downingtown West no later than 45 minutes prior to the recital start time (no later than 12:15pm for the 1pm recital, no later than 2:45pm for the 3:30pm recital, and no later than 5:45pm for the 6:30pm recital).

Dancers should arrive at Downingtown West wearing their costume, pink tights (unless specified differently by their teacher), with hair in a high bun (unless specified differently by their teacher), and with makeup on as parents prefer. Stage lights wash out facial features and adding even a little makeup helps with this. Dancers should NOT wear any jewelry or nail polish. Please remind your dancers that there is no eating or drinking (except for water) while in costume!!!

If your dancer is in more than one dance, then they should arrive wearing their first costume with a flesh toned leotard underneath to allow for changing in between numbers.

Dancers will remain at Downingtown West until their final recital is finished (they do not leave between shows). If your dancer is in both the 3:30pm and 630pm recitals, the dance team parents coordinate Chick-Fil-A meals (sandwich plus chips and a bottle of water) for $8 per person. The order form and instructions can be found at this link:

Recital tickets are available at the studio for $20 per ticket. Tickets can be purchased Monday-Friday from 4:30pm-8pm and Saturday from 9:15am-3:15pm. Important note: the arrival/dismissal and safety of dancers is our first priority, so we appreciate your patience if you have to wait a few minutes until Miss Chris, Miss Melissa, or Miss Keeley are available to sell tickets.

If you would like to pre-order flowers to celebrate your dancer, the Dance Team Association is pleased to offer handcrafted bouquets in three sizes. Pre-ordered bouquets will be available to pick up in the lobby before each performances. The online order form includes all the details and can be found here: tinyurl.com/LSODRecital

Please make sure your dancer’s name is inside all costumes and shoes!

One parent will be permitted backstage to pick up their dancer following the recital. No dads (men) will be allowed in the dressing room area.

If there is an emergency or illness and your dancer will not be able to attend the recital, please call 610-363-8725 (the main studio phone number) and leave a detailed message.

As a reminder, the studio will be closed on Saturday, May 23th and Monday, May 25th in honor of Memorial Day.
