This one is for the shepherdesses out there (but men are welcomed to read too, we love our brothers!)
There are sheep out there without a shepherd. If we find them, we bandage their wounds and lead them to the chief shepherd. We do it because we love them... and him. We do not do it for a salary or for likes. We do it because the Lord is a shepherd and we are just his hands and feet. The minute we second-guess what God has told us to do, we disobey him and enter into doubt and fear. Let the others get tied up in the denominational weeds. Just keep working. Just keep going after the lost. Do not get discouraged. If someone asks you to leave one “town” go to the next. Don’t stop. Don’t go quiet.
If you are a teacher, teach truth.
It you are a preacher, preach boldly.
If you are a prophetess, weep and wail like the prophetess you are!
We are so close to the end. Do not give up. Don’t second-guess your placement and calling. We are all called to make disciples. Male and female. That is the great commission, which was not addressed only to men, but to the women too. Yeshua never said one part of his message was meant for men only or women only. This is significant. We were all given the same directions, the same hope, the same message.
I doubt that the woman at the well second-guessed running into the city to tell everyone what the Lord had done for her. I doubt that she only spoke to women. I doubt that she waited for her (un)husband to give her permission to speak.
Oh, but you say, that wasn’t in church.
I’m sorry, but how does that matter?
…For Eve sinned first and then Adam.
Really?! Did you not see a reversal of this in the life and ministry of Yeshua? He gave every “first announcement” to a woman. Why? He was reversing the curse.
IT WAS NOT LIKE THIS IN THE BEGINNING. I think of Yeshua telling the Pharisees when they asked him about divorce. He was looking back at Eden and mourning how far we were from that kind of love.
Love before the curse. What would that be like? Before a woman’s desire was for her husband and he desired to rule over her.
Sarah. Sold out twice by her husband (and maybe herself) to marry an Egyptian and Philistine king, giving another woman the right to her marriage bed so Abraham could have a child, tormented by Hagar for this choice…it was not like this in the beginning. Hagar was used and discarded, yet she was seen by God. Sarah was seen and given a new name–from Sarai (My Princess) to Sarah (Princess of God). We were meant to be God's Beloved.
Leah. Hated and despised by Jacob. Married to a man who resented her and only loved her when his favorite wife died. She mourned and cried and named her children sad names. Yet she was loved in the end. Tragic is the journey of all who look to men for their worth and value. It was not like this in the beginning. We were meant to look to God for love.
Abigail. I look at a woman who had a fool for a husband. Thankfully my husband is wise and generous, but I look at Abigail and I think about how the Lord saw her and rescued her from her man’s stupidity–it was not like this in the beginning. She spoke the truth that saved her household (but not her husband). She did not keep silent. And she was vindicated.
Ladies, do NOT stay silent when you need to speak. The Lord gives us good sense, wisdom, winsomeness, beauty, and prophetic words for a reason…to SPEAK THEM.
A man telling you that you are causing division or being rebellious against authority just by prophesying or shepherding other believers or praying for people has a bigger problem than you. He has taken it upon himself to sit in judgment over you. And that comes with a heavy consequence. Forgive him. Bless him and pray for his family. They’ll need it. We are meant to live in the fullness of who we are as women, not made to feel as if we are rebelling against “male leadership” and “male authority” when we open our mouths, but because we have returned to Eden (…With or without the guys! They’ll get the memo eventually.)
THE CURSE IS BROKEN! Someone please tell these men in the conferences that the blood of Yeshua broke the curse. Or tell them to please stop singing about the cross, because in their religious fervor, they deny its power.
Deborah. Nothing tells us how she became the shepherd of Israel as judge, but if someone should lodge a complaint at the head office, maybe tell them to take it up with the Lord, who sanctioned her leadership over not just a single congregation but EVERYONE in the land. Thankfully, she did not stay quiet.
Jael. I didn’t see any men fighting her for the honor of driving a stake into the enemy’s head. Some of the wildest warriors in the Spirit I know? Yes. Women. It’s not that all men are cowards, but that women are also brave and capable of great exploits! In the end, the whole army was thankful she did not stay quiet.
Ruth. Loyalty and faithfulness drives this story, but also the boldness to ask a man to marry her! The nerve! It’s not that she wanted to wear the pants in the family. She needed a covering…enough to ask for it. I am so thankful that she did not stay quiet because from her came Oved, Jesse, and King David.
Rehab. Pr******te or not, we may never know. But they were happy to use her to signal the troops. Thankfully, she did not stay quiet when she needed to direct the enemy troops away from the Hebrew spies!
Priscilla. She corrected an apostate apostle. But oh please, don’t let her pastor a group of people! I bet Apollos is very happy she did not stay quiet.
It’s a blessing to submit, they’ll tell you. To your HUSBAND, yes! And they submit to us in love. We submit to ONE ANOTHER. THAT’S how it was in the beginning. But we are not supposed to submit to just any man just because he is a man. That is out of order. My problem is not that some denominations forbid women to pastor… it is the audacity that people even feel that decision is theirs to make! And you know who loves to uphold the decision the most? It’s not the men. It’s the women who have yielded to these unbiblical pronouncements their whole lives and want all future generations to as well.
Are we all still living under the curse to such a degree that we are willing to silence 50% of the population of would-be shepherds, prophets, teachers, evangelists, and apostles in your community? May the Lord forgive the men who dishearten and so silence the woman who would have set a million souls on fire in Africa. It will be better for murderers on the day of judgment than for the man who tells a spirit-led woman preacher to sit down while she still has fire in her bones. They tell her she is possessed by another spirit, not the Holy Spirit. This is called blaspheming the Spirit. The religious leaders also did it to Yeshua, and it has eternal repercussions.
Let me ask you this…
What is so holy about these platforms these people are protecting? Is it because it is raised up? Is it because it is in a special building? Is it because the men need the jobs? Is it because there is a microphone in the center? Because I doubt they would have a problem if a woman discipled a man on the street. I mean, really discipled him, as in telling him what Yeshua said. It happens all the time, but walk into a building labeled “a church,” and now the women are all supposed to go silent? Is that what we want? Is that what we want for our daughters?
Don’t you think there is a reason Yeshua allowed the Samaritan woman at the well to be the first evangelist? Yes! To preach!
Don’t you think there is a reason Mary was allowed to sit at his feet and learn from a Rabbi? Yes! To teach!
Don’t you think there is a reason a woman saw the risen Messiah first and was told to go tell the men? Yes! To testify!
Don’t you think there is a reason women were in the upper room, with tongues of fire and foreign languages blazing bright? Yes! To prophesy to the nations in the fulfillment of Joel 2!
I will pour out my Spirit upon ALL people your SONS AND DAUGHTERS will prophesy! And prophets do not stay quiet in the congregations, friends.
Women’s voices are meant to be heard because we are people with the blood of the Lamb coursing through our veins and testimonies strong enough to overcome the accuser.
To teach, to prophesy, to rebuke, to encourage, to testify–these things are the work of the Spirit, and the Spirit is not choosy about working through men or women. He is looking for willing, pure vessels, regardless of s*x. And I’ll tell you another thing. If we put our attention back on our own hearts for a minute, we will see that there is no male or female in Messiah. We are all sinful creatures who have been rescued by the love of Yeshua.
Don’t you dare be quiet about what he has done for you.
Be orderly in assembly. Yes.
Be honoring in your relationships with others. Yes.
But don’t…Please DON’T stay quiet. Staying in places where you are not permitted to speak will kill your joy and drain your faith. Go somewhere else and shout his goodness to anyone who will listen.
Your desire is for your Beloved now, sweet sisters.
