Have you ever wondered how you could become a docent at Mesker Park Zoo?? 🐾

Well now’s your chance!!

Our next Level 1 Docent Class starts next week on September 5th! The deadline to apply is Tuesday, September 1st. Don’t miss it!

was Tuesday the 25th, but we’re continuing to recognize colobine monkeys and the conservation efforts that protect them.

Often called “leaf monkeys,” these primates actually have a special, multi-chambered stomach that gives them the ability to digest leaves and seeds. 🌿

The more we know about these incredible animals, the more we can understand the threats they face AND what we can do to help protect them in the wild!

To help zoos like ours raise awareness and support conservation efforts, the AZA has created a SAFE program for colobus monkeys. SAFE stands for Saving Animals From Extinction, and you can learn more about the program here: https://www.safecolobus.org

Our next Level 1 Docent Class is coming up on September 5th, and we’re looking for people who are passionate about animals, conservation and connecting our community with the Zoo!

Docents play an important role in helping guests learn more about the work we do here at Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden.
