Meet the Musician: Jasmine Dickson

Meet Jasmine Dickson, the EP’s new Principal Trumpet! A New Jersey native and graduate of Messiah University in central Pennsylvania, Jasmine is currently studying at IU’s Jacobs School of Music.

She is an accomplished performer and active freelancer in Massachusetts and the Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and Indiana regions. Jasmine has competed at the National Trumpet Competition and is passionate about British brass band music. Prior to arriving at Messiah, Jasmine spent a formative year in Boston where she studied with members of the Boston Symphony and was an established recording artist at the Berklee College of Music.

Jasmine credits her teachers, including Dr. Bryan Appleby-Wineberg, Dr. William Stowman, Joey Tartell and Dr. Kris Kwapis, for helping shape her musical journey.

Fun fact: Dr. Appleby-Wineberg also previously held the Principal Trumpet position with the Evansville Philharmonic! When Jasmine is not performing, she enjoys swimming, Saturday Night Live, and caring for her two tarantulas, Camille and May.

Music Director Roger Kalia joined Mike Blake, host of Midday with Mike, for a lively conversation about two exciting highlights of the Evansville Philharmonic’s 2026–2027 season—Opening Night! Classics and the Halloween Spectacular Pops.

Opening Night! on Sat, Sept 19 features acclaimed guest artists Lucia Micarelli, violin, and her husband, cellist Erick Byers, who returns to the Victory Theatre stage to perform Johannes Brahms’ Double Concerto for Violin and Cello with the Orchestra.

On Sat, Oct 24, our Halloween Spectacular brings a spine-tingling orchestral adventure featuring the EP Orchestra and Chorus, along with a side-by-side performance with our talented Youth Orchestra musicians.

Experience Bernard Herrmann’s Psycho Suite, magical selections from Harry Potter by John Williams, Danse Macabre by Saint-Saëns, and more!
