Welcome to the best kept secret in Evansville!
The Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Coliseum was erected in 1916 to honor the Veterans of this area. Its architectural design was patterned after the Roman and Gothic era.
The front of the building welcomes you with two grand statues that represent the soldiers that served in the Civil War and in the Spanish American War. Step through the large six white pillars and enter the Main Lobby designed with a built in ticket booth. Directly off the lobby to the right is the Grand Army Republic (GAR) room and to the left is the Spanish American War room, both perfect for your personal or business meetings.
Now, lets enter the Main Hall: a large open arena with a standing room capacity of 4,055. A 99’ X 55’ hard wood floor graces the center of the room and there is a large balcony that seats over 800 and has a full usable stage measuring 40’ X 20’ X 30’ (depth).
Located on the Southwest side of the building is another large room used by the Disabled American Veterans for their meeting room. On the East side of the building we have a full scale, fully equipped kitchen and concession area. In the rear of the Coliseum there are two identical garages, both with loading and handicap accessible ramps.
