Composed in 1911, this work is a brilliant display of Coleridge-Taylor’s gift for melody and sophisticated orchestration. The four movements range from the graceful and whimsical to the deeply lyrical, capturing a unique blend of late-Romantic elegance and light-classical charm.

Our musicians had such fun bringing this vibrant, often-underperformed masterpiece to the stage. Watch the full performance here:

Virtuosity in its purest form. 🎻✨

We are honored to welcome Nathan Amaral to the stage on June 7th. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nathan’s journey has taken him to the world’s most prestigious halls, earning him a reputation as one of the most exciting violinists of his generation.

As the recipient of the Sphinx Organization’s 2024 Medal of Excellence, Nathan is celebrated not just for his technical brilliance, but for his profound artistry. He joins the ESO to perform Alexander Glazunov’s lyrical Violin Concerto in A-Minor—a masterpiece that demands both soulful expression and incredible precision.

Don’t miss this chance to hear a rising international star live right here in Evanston!
