NEW EVENT: The Renoir Girls: A Hidden History of Art, War and Betrayal

In 1881, Pierre-Auguste Renoir painted two sisters from a prominent Jewish banking dynasty in Paris, the Cahen d'Anvers.

His portrait, 'Pink and Blue', captures the refinement and confidence of a world in which a few Jewish families like them were central to French culture and an integral part of high society, at the height of the Belle Époque in Paris.

But beneath the glamour and beauty, antisemitism was already on the rise.

In her new book, 'The Renoir Girls', historian and and former Editor-in-Chief of Tatler, Catherine Ostler, tells the remarkable story behind this iconic painting, and of the Jewish family at the heart of it.
