Veterans Day is November 11th. We at Blue Ox created an Honor Wall for people to honor their family members that served. Viviana's Grandfather and Mother are listed, as well as other local veterans. The Honor Wall is on display at Blue Ox and will be traveling with Radioman when it is performed again. The debt is larger than any of us can know.

Viviana here ~this Memorial Day weekend was hard. Eric and I took ourselves to the beach and to the river, but the demons did not cooperate. He was able to call some of his wartime buddies in the evening and I think it helped him to connect with them. My heart goes out to all of those families that are dealing with wartime PTSD and especially to those families whose fathers and sons did not come home.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye… Blue Ox Historic Village announces the

World Premiere of Watch Party of Radioman

This Saturday May 2nd on Facebook

and Sunday May 3rd on YouTube!

We hope you will join us and honor our veterans, their families and loved ones.

OK, we get it, you are asking “What is a Craftsmen’s Village doing showing a Theater production??” You’re right, but there is a crazy logic to it if you’ll let your mind wander the ever expanding realities of Blue Ox Millworks. Our journey starts in 1968 with ERic Peter Hollenbeck’s combat tour in the A Shau Valley of Viet Nam with the 101st Airborne. Then we jump ahead 25 years to a two day stay in Colorado Springs where Eric wrote a series of 16 poems chronicling his experience in combat. These became the book “Uncle Sam’s Tour Guide to South East Asia”. Another 22 year jump and Blue Ox has a Veterans Program in full swing building the historically accurate 1865 Hearse that carried Abraham Lincoln to his final resting place in Springfield Ill. It was right after that, that the poems, the build team, Grant Art Productions and the playwright James McManus all came together and the theater production “Radioman the Play” was born and performed on a live stage to sold out audiences for every performance. One of the performances was filmed and we are now up to the present… this Saturday, and Sunday!

So now you know the story! We sincerely hope you can join us for this exciting Premiere!

We will be streaming on Facebook this Saturday, May 2nd at 5pm PST. Join us via the Blue Ox Historic Village page.

Followed by a Youtube Watch Party on Sunday, May 3rd at 2pm PST. Join us via the Blue Ox Historic Village youtube channel.

See you tomorrow night at 5pm PST
on the Watch Party on Blue Ox Historic Village page! ❤️
..
And, as for the justness of any war
One must never forget
War is as far from Godliness
As we as humans can get
Thus, pick this option carefully
With the weight of a heavy heart
For sanity is the casualty
The minute War does start

~ Radioman, ERic Peter Hollenbeck

Radioman blends stories which represent soldiers from the Vietnam War through to current military conflicts – across race, gender, rank and file.

The stories from the jungles of Vietnam, the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, Blue Ox Historic Village and President Lincoln’s funeral procession and re-enactment, have love as a common theme.

This is the love that allows the survivors and their families to make their journeys towards healing and redemption.

So excited to join together at the world premiere watch party on the Blue Ox Historic Village page - this Saturday, May 2nd at 5pm PST - invite your family & friends.
