I came to the musical and theatrical worlds late. I was a good local athlete at Eureka High School and College of the Redwoods JC here on the North Coast... but after thinking I might be a teacher and coach, I got hit with music (specifically singing) on a football scholarship to San Jose State University. I was in the Men’s Glee Club and sang in the Brahms Requiem with Charlene Archibeque. With o
ver 100 voices and with the San Jose Symphony and soloists from the San Francisco Opera, I was truly transported for life to another world of possibility. It was then I decided to study voice seriously. After private studies with Philip Frohenmayer and Dr. James, Stanard, at Humboldt State University, Charlen Chadwick Cullen, John Mount, and Eunice DeMello, at the University of Hawaii Manoa and Martial Singher and beloved Peggy Norcross in Santa Barbara..I continued to receive invaluable experience at the Music Academy of the West and the San Francisco Opera’s Merola Program. After moving to Seattle to follow Peggy Norcross, I began cutting my teeth in the thriving theater scene of the Emerald City. For nearly 16 years I was a leading man and supporting actor in many of the top musicals and plays at the Village Theatre, Civic Light Opera, the Bathhouse Theater the 5th Avenue Theater and Edge of the World Theater. Tours with Holland America’s On Stage Alaska show and stints as a cruise ship singer followed extensive voice over work in local and national commercials. In 2001 I moved back to my hometown and have continued to work as a leading actor in the theaters such as Humboldt Light Opera Company, Redwood Curtain, North Coast Rep and the Ferndale Repertory Theater. Local radio and television stations opened their doors to me and for nearly 14 years I enjoyed working as a radio DJ (KINS/KINS) and then TV anchorman (KIEM News Channel 3). I have been teaching voice privately since my days in Seattle and maintain a small studio of amateur and professional students here in Humboldt County.
