“If I had to pick one concert this season for someone who’s never been to the symphony before… this is the one.” — Alex Prior
Big melodies. Wild energy. No padding. Just music that grabs you from the first note and doesn’t let go. Bring someone who’s never been. May 14.

Alex Prior previews what he calls the “epic Nordic string lick” from Nielsen’s Symphony No. 4, “The Inextinguishable.” The pounding, jackhammer-like strings are intense, thrilling, and possibly our favorite thing we’ve ever heard Alex demonstrate. Which is saying something, because he is endlessly entertaining.

Hear it live May 14 with Eugene Symphony.

Alex Prior on composer Gabriella Smith's music: it's the sound of a young country, full of life, joy, and unashamed delight. Be delighted this Thursday!

05/11/2026

John Adams is captivated by fellow composer Gabriella Smith, especially her piece "Tumblebird Contrails." She wrote it at just 21, and now everyone wants her music. Catch her work this Thursday!

05/11/2026

We promise this video is not sped up - Claire can really play that fast. She'll perform one of the most beloved piano concertos of all time - Grieg's - Thursday. You're not going to want to miss this final concert of the season!

05/09/2026

Music Director Alex Prior invites you to experience an uplifting and positive program designed for everyone, even symphony newcomers! We're ending the season with unashamed optimism and life force, celebrating the best of humanity through music.
