I get asked frequently what bronze looks like “new” and why we cover up the beautiful bright color with a patina.
The bright bronze doesn’t stay like that for long. It will oxidize based on the environment. The patina is a controlled oxidation process that enables us to get a look that will last generations, if cared for well. The wax coating is to add a layer of protection over the patina to help it age well.

Hard to believe it’s been a year since we installed Celestial Bloom. It looks as good as it it the day we installed.
Steve will be creating pieces to be placed at water level over then next few months.

Although we have been silent, we haven't been idle. Last week, Steve delivered the Ellen Browning Building Hummingbird to its home in Portland, OR. This was truly a team effort. Most of the creation was done in wax by Dez, metal work by Ramon and Oscar, patina by Steve and Ramon. If you happen to be downtown Portland, take a look. 2871 SE Division St, Portland, OR
