Instaballet

Community created art! An interactive dance company—audiences choreograph on professional dancers.

, founded in 2013, is the creative brainchild of Suzanne Haag and Antonio Anacan, two former professional dancers with the Eugene Ballet Company.

is a free, interactive dance experiment that seeks to actively engage an audience in the “real-time” creation of original choreography. It provides the general public of all ages with a rare glimpse into the behind-the-scenes work of both the creative process of setting a dance piece to music and the incredible ability of professional dancers to quickly and beautifully commit the movements to memory. The goal of the project is to move the audience from a more passive appreciation of dance to a deeper, more engaging experience where they become an integral part of the creative process.

Live music makes an extra special 🤩 The audience gets to help shape the dance, but they’re also helping shape the music as it’s being created.

Nothing is totally locked in, which means we get to listen, react, take some chances, and see where it goes. That’s kind of the magic of it 🙂‍↔️

✨ It’s our LAST of the season, and we’re taking over Capitello Wines for First Friday ArtWalk! 💃🎶

The music is composed live as the dance unfolds, with dancers and musicians listening, responding, and bringing YOUR ideas to life in real time. It’s spontaneous, collaborative, and never quite the same twice. ✨

And tonight, we’re excited to welcome Jeremy Wegner to his first , joining pianist Ben LaTorraca on mandolin!

We are truly blown away by the support our community showed us at heART in Motion.

We set a goal of $60,000, and together, you helped us raise an incredible $75,165.

This support allows us to continue our mission of empowering people through dance and, importantly, to invest in the artists and staff who make this work possible by helping us pay a living wage.
